The Buildings & Grounds Division (B&G ) is responsible for the Capitol Campus and the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) managed building operations, stewardship, and historic preservation. B&G provides service to over 42 agencies, maintains, operates and preserves the 486-acre state Capitol Campus in Olympia, including more than 28 buildings, 18 public monuments, four state parks and a 260-acre lake. B&G executes these responsibilities through the following service programs: Facilities Operations, Grounds Operations, Leadership and Admin, Maintenance & Repairs, Support Services (custodial).
Duties
Some of what you will be doing:
The Controls Technician is responsible for installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, operating, maintaining, start-up and commissioning, repairing HVAC/building automation control systems, and related software and hardware equipment
- Work with HVAC Technicians and other facility personnel in supporting these needs
- Ensure compliance with Campus standard by consistently consulting/communicating with vendors and Campus Staff with relation to Campus projects
- Periodically archiving of data trend storage, regularly scheduled backup of all related system databases, updating and archiving all related Control System Program Files and Graphics
- Engineer and design revisions to control sequences when required. Upgrade and update control systems hardware and/or software as needed
- Maintain current libraries for any related Campus Controls Project(s) including control system drawings, Operation and Maintenance Manuals, and other related project documentation
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in electronics technology, computer science or closely allied field- Four (4) years of experience in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of computerized telemetry systems
- Valid Driver’s license free of serious traffic violations

- A minimum of two years of experience with increasing levels of reasonability in maintaining and supporting web based DDC systems
- Application engineering/configuration of various HVAC DDC control systems using multi-vendor supplied software/hardware tools
- Database management and high-level operational knowledge of various VAV control systems including but not limited to Johnson Controls, Allerton, Staefa, Tridium/Niagra
- At least 1 years at the integration level of line code programming and interpretation
- Possess a high level of understanding related to the different manufactures DDC protocols like JCI, N-2, BACnet, Lonworks, Modbus, Ethernet, and Tridium
- Must be efficient with various voltmeters and other like test equipment
- Intermediate to advance computer skills, including Microsoft Operation Systems

- Full-time 40 hour work week | Schedule will be determined upon hire
- This position primarily works indoors but may be required to perform occasional work outside in inclement weather as well as some confined space environments
