Summary

Do you have the capability to develop and deliver technical content and courseware? Are you looking to work with the Signal Solutions Business Unit to foster Mercury’s technical and assembler talent? This role is based in Oxnard, CA and can provide the opportunity to do just that.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining technical content and courseware for technicians and assemblers, ensuring all training is current and the personnel have the skills and knowledge required.
  • Developing the best approach to training, such as hands-on, simulation, videos, on-line, self-paced, etc.
  • Creating assessments to evaluate learning effectiveness and identify instructional improvement opportunities.
  • Managing the Technician Apprentice Program and providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Facilitating training or partnering with subject matter experts to deliver RF technician and assembler training.
  • Assessing other training needs and recommending solutions.
  • Collaborating with Mercury’s Leaning and Development team.
  • Rolling-out Lean training – 7S – initial and continuous training to operations team.
  • Researching and applying for state and federal training grants.
  • Supporting the production floor during peak periods as needed.

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience as technical trainer in an electronics manufacturing organization, aerospace and defense preferred.
  • Degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Experience in instructional design for technical subjects.
  • Ability to address training needs through coursework and practical, hands-on, or self-paced training.
  • Working knowledge in MS Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Outstanding communication skills and comfort speaking to groups of employees.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

Preferred

  • Certification such as CTT+ (Certified Technical Trainer) is a strong asset.
  • Prior experience course authoring tools such as Brainshark, Articulate, or Captivate.
  • Technician experience.
  • Lean 6sigma green belt and 6sigma training.
  • Experience as technical trainer in an RF/Microwave organization.

  • Managing the Technician Apprentice Program, ensuring successful completion of employees enrolled in the program, while providing guidance and mentorship to those employees
  • Facilitating training or partnering with subject matter experts to deliver RF technician and assembler training
  • Assessing other training needs and making recommendations for needed training
  • Working with Mercury’s Leaning and Development team regarding best practices
