The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Purpose of the Position:
This position will be the owner of the end-to-end lifecycle of business applications that support Corning Life Sciences. As a global business with complex processes, key business applications like ERP and its associated systems, help run business functions.
This role will be responsible for understanding, anticipating, shaping, and bringing together demand for IT services for business applications – primarily SAP S/4 and related technologies in supply chain and order management areas.
The IT Manager, Global Business Applications will also play a business architect role in the division SAP rollout and will ensure the deployment teams design solutions that meet business requirements and can be supported long term.
He/She will be a key partner in managing the roadmap for the Corning Life Sciences division to ensure that the long-term IT strategy is in alignment with business objectives.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Serves as a division product owner for SAP S/4 and owns the lifecycle and roadmap.
- Owns the IT services for Supply Chain in the business division in partnership with the global IT organization. Ensures services meet their operational targets in availability and performance.
- Owns the overall architecture of business systems (SAP S/4, SAP IBP, or EDI) and ensures that they deliver value to the business
- Builds and maintains strategic business relationships between IT Service Lines and business partners.
- Develops and maintains deployment roadmaps for ERP, Planning, EDI and related functions.
- Actively engages in assessing supply chain capability in division, drive process and technology standardization globally
- Works with the business to evaluate, design and implement solutions that are aligned with the digital innovation strategies
- Leverages and advocates the adoption of technology to solve complex business problems.
- Works closely with cross functional IT engineering and operations teams to facilitate delivery of new systems, features, and improvements
- Responsible to drive compliance on security and data related to SOX
- Acts as an escalation point for business when needed to drive issues to closure across IT function.
- Clearly communicates progress across business and IT teams
Education and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum of 10 years of overall experience in a services or manufacturing organization, with large-scale, global SAP deployment experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a business facing role within an IT organization
Required Skills:
- Strong communication skills, with experience interacting with senior business and IT leadership
- Strong knowledge of SAP S/4 (emphasis on SD and WM), SAP IBP/APO and other SAP adjacent capabilities with implementation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations
- Collaborative team player with Integrity and strong work ethic
- Nimble and agile thinking to drive change that enables efficiencies and growth
- Strong bias for action and an ability to deliver results despite the complex and fluid environment
- Excellent analytical skills.

- Self-motivated and results oriented mindset with experience in project management
Desired skills:
- Similar experience in Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical industry
- Experience managing or deploying validated systems in compliance with FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and other global standards
- Previous experience as a functional consultant.
