PRINCIPLE PURPOSE:
The Lead Wet Production Packer (level 4) is responsible for the accurate and timely packaging of Wet finished liquid products and movement in D365 of finished, packaging and raw materials. A Lead Packer is expected to properly carry out all duties as defined below under Essential Functions. All work will be performed in a safe and sanitary manner while correctly following all SOP Guidelines and work instructions related to the job. Duties includes (but not limited to):
proper operation, equipment lockout procedures, sampling, testing, processing and cleaning of product and equipment.
A thorough knowledge and understanding of all materials, equipment, processes and controls is necessary for successful qualification. The Lead Packer needs to be able to work with warehouse, quality, maintenance, production employees and supervisors to achieve their job goals. This person covers all the bases when the Production manager and or Coordinator is absent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Adhere and comply with all company safety policies including reporting any unsafe acts or near misses.
- Help promote and support company health and safety policy practices and procedures.
- Always performs tasks safely and comply with cGMP policies and drives compliance in the team.
- Assure adherence to all elements of SQF system and policies and drives compliance in the team.
- Identify and use the proper PPE required for tasks in the production area. Can read and understand Safety Data Sheets for materials/chemicals used in the plant.
- Assembles, disassemble, operates, and troubleshoots related equipment including but not limited to filler, canners, magnets, metal detectors, and screens.
- Support Supervisors and other Wet area employees with tasks required.
- Train new employees on Wet Packer job positions level 1,2 and 3; and verify all training.
- Show initiative in proactively and reactively correct production issues pertaining to scheduling, allergens, mechanical, training, etc.
- Verify setup of equipment by level 1-3 packers.
- Correctly maintain, review and update all production, cleaning procedures and forms.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds unassisted is required.
- Support other Production areas with tasks required.
- Understands and maintains the HACCP program in detail; including metal detector, magnets, screens and scale checks and proper recordkeeping.
- Follow proper packaging instructions provided in the batch ticket sheets supplied by management.
- Correctly follow all production, cleaning procedures as described in the SOP.
- Maintain, create and review all Production department goals.
- Investigate root causes of yield/hold product issues and report the findings to management.
- Implement improvements to the Production area such as 5S, equipment operation and guidelines for trainings etc.
- Know the location of all raw and packaging materials and finished production within the warehouse – able to locate in D365 and use the pc version and handheld mobile device for D365.
- Locate & maintain inventories by moving ingredients within the inventory system (D365) and bringing them to the work area and always scan bar codes and LP as appropriate.
- Maintains records including but not limited to computer, sanitation, pre-op, HACCP, inventory count sheets and batch tickets.
- Safely and properly operate a forklift and train other employees on forklift operation.
- Correctly complete and submit work orders requiring a maintenance person.
- Perform minor maintenance on equipment.
- Effectively perform all other duties as assigned or directed by management.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of the Company.
- Solid communication skills required between team members, other shifts and other departments.
- Work collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Attend all company mandated training sessions – these include Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Q4 management training Generation 1, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED.
- +3 years of manufacturing/production experience desired.
- Math, reading & writing competency is required.
- Must be able to operate a forklift truck (sit down, stand up, walkie and hand-jack).
