The Public Employees Retirement System is recruiting for one (1) Mail Services Assistant (Mailroom Assistant) position within the Central Administration Division, Procurement Facilities & Logistics section.
  • This is a full-time, limited duration position due to workload expected to last through June 30, 2023, however it could end at any time. This position is based in Tigard, Oregon at PERS Headquarters.
  • This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
  • This position is represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Central Administration Division (CAD) / Procurement Facilities & Logistics (PFL)
Central Administration Central Administration provides support services necessary to achieve the agency's key goals in support of the mission, vision, and core values and operating principles. Services from Central Administration are provided to all departments in the agency. Central Administration supports the executive director's office and other key areas and plays a key role in making and implementing critical agency decisions.
PFL is comprised of two groups: Procurement & Facilities & Logistics. The Procurement Services section 1) develops, establishes & administers the acquisition process for supplies & services in support of the Agency's business needs; 2) prepares & administers solicitations, contracts & purchases within the requirements of Statutes, Rules & policies; & 3) balances customer satisfaction, quality & total cost while maintaining high ethical standards. The Facilities and Logistics section operates, maintains and repairs buildings and property for PERS Headquarters and leased facilities, and provides centralized support services for incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries, shuttle services between buildings, surplus property, fleet vehicles, security services, recycling, shredding and large volume copy jobs.
Mail Services Assistant (Mailroom Assistant)
This position provides support to all functions in the Procurement, Facilities & Logistics section with specific responsibility for: opening, sorting, and distributing mail; preparing mail for United States Postal Service and state shuttle; agency production photocopying; major mailing projects, (member statements, agency newsletters, etc.); forms fulfillment; recording checks received; recording registered mail and priority shipments and handling recycling. This position operates shuttle van taking mail, supplies, and equipment to off-site offices. Regular and timely attendance is an essential function required to meet the demands of this job and to provide necessary services.
