American Leadership Academy is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Assistant. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in providing the best educational experience to students and staff by helping to maintain cleanliness, order, and maintenance of company facilities. Candidates must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card. Experience working in a school environment as a custodian and previous maintenance experience preferred.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
- Gather and empty trash on a daily basis from classrooms and offices.
- Services, cleans, and supplies restrooms. If supplies are running low, responsible for notifying Campus Director or Operations Administrator of needs.
- Cleans windows and mirrors in designated area on campus or facility.
- Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and applicable equipment.
- Sprays insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestations.
- Sets up, arranges and removes tables, chairs, ladders and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
- Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours.
- Identifies supplies that need to be ordered and submits requests to Campus Administration.
- Assists in keeping building up to safety standards as dictated by state and federal guidelines.
- Works on special maintenance projects as needed including painting, small repairs and plumbing. Helps identify and reports any larger issues that require additional assistance.
- Maintains janitorial equipment to keep in good working order.
- Assists staff and faculty with small projects including picture hanging in classrooms.
- Assists with after-school event preparation and execution as needed.
- Assists with the school’s energy conservation practices by turning off unneeded lights and equipment; identifies unoccupied areas of the building where heating and cooling can be shut down, and reports leaking faucets, pipes and sprinklers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Lifting 25-50 lbs., bending, walking, hand movements, reaching, and coordination.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma/GED
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, year-round 12 months. Extended hours and overtime as approved by Campus Director.
