JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance Director, performs a wide variety of custodial and maintenance duties in order to provide a clean, orderly and safe environment for residents, staff and visitors of Silvergate. Must have knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical, plumbing, and building and floor maintenance.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform building maintenance and custodial duties in resident apartments, as well as in common areas within and around the facility.
  • Assist with monitoring apartment vacancies daily and initiate the turnover process with painting, repairs, upgrades, cleaning, etc.
  • Able to operate power equipment such as carpet cleaners, pressure washer, hand and power tools, etc.
  • Respond to work orders promptly. Work orders may originate from a resident directly, fellow staff member, or management.
  • Deliver packages to resident rooms, management offices and/or other locations on a daily basis, providing accurate delivery, and documentation in the delivery log.
  • Gain a thorough knowledge of Community’s Disaster plan and be prepared to assist facility Administrator execute the plan in the event of an emergency.
  • Plumbing knowledge sufficient to repair leaky faucets and toilets and ability to change valves if necessary.
  • Ability to learn facility’s HVAC system and make adjustments as needed based on seasonal weather changes under the direction of the Maintenance Director.
  • Performs preventative maintenance in and around the facility, following Preventative Maintenance Calendar provided by Maintenance Director.
  • Outside grounds maintenance, which may include sweeping of parking lots and litter clean up and trash removal from designated trash bins daily.
  • Move furniture within the facility with the assistance of proper lifting/moving equipment as necessary.
  • Reports and responds to emergency calls as needed by residents or community.
  • Immediate action for clean-up of spills on flooring and carpet stain removal.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and report needs to Maintenance Director.
  • Keeps all maintenance storage areas neat and organized at all times.
  • Setup and breakdown for hosted special events. May be required to stay late for clean-up.
  • Act as liaison between Maintenance Director and subcontractors. Must be able to give clear instructions to afford subcontractors direct access to their workstation and/or work duties
  • Provide courteous service to fellow staff members and to residents.
  • Keep Maintenance Director informed of status of projects through completion.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to include weekends, holidays, evenings, and rotating on-call responsibility for after-hours emergencies in the absence of the Maintenance Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age; possess good character and reputation of personal integrity.

2. Personal characteristics (excellent communicator and time management skills, team player, proactive, personable, levelheaded, motivated, solution oriented, organized, attention to detail), physical energy and competence to provide excellent custodial and maintenance service to the residents and staff of the facility.

3. Be a high school graduate with some experience providing custodial and maintenance related services.

4. Fluent in speaking, reading, writing and understanding English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the ability to bend, squat, stoop, climb, kneel, and stand on feet for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Job offer is contingent on the following:

  • Must pass criminal background check (cannot have any convictions on DOJ or FBI records).
  • Must pass drug test, pre-employment physical and TB test.
  • Negative COVID test
  • All testing paid for by Silvergate.
  • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid and Booster (No Exceptions)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
