Summary of position:

Shift hours 10pm - 6:30am, Sunday - Thursday with some OT as scheduled. Repairs and maintains electrical, mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as power presses, air compressors & chillers, forming machines, wash line equipment, material handling systems & fork trucks, assembly & welding equipment, metal fabricating machine tools, material handling systems, and automated lubrication systems.

Main responsibilities:

Includes the following, other duties may be assigned.

• Visually inspects and listens to machines and equipment to locate causes of malfunctions. Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment and or other problems.
• Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area and will potentially work with outside vendors to insure proper repair.
• Responsible for the inventory of items needed to perform monthly pm’s and will maintain the files and checklists associated with each piece of equipment.
• Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism, hydraulic systems, clutch and brake assembly, etc.
• Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles and clutches, multidirectional valves, pumps and motors.
• Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine, and measures, cuts, threads and installs new pipe.
• Starts machines and equipment to test operations following repair.
• Repairs broken parts. Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, mill, drill press, grinder and general welding practices to make or repair parts.
• Initiates purchase order for parts and machines, supplies and updates Monthly Budget tracking sheet.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, hydraulic & pneumatic equipment. Capable of reading electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics. Must be able to use multi-meter, flow meters, pressure gauges to determine problems within the equipment. Maintains history file on all equipment and tools that receive maintenance attentions; file should include operating instructions, service manuals, lubrication requirements, and recommended spare parts lists. Maintain replacement equipment and parts inventory to assure that machinery and equipment are out of service with a minimal amount of down time.
• Maintains a preventative maintenance log on each piece of equipment to insure optimum operation.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area. Helps keep his immediate working area and the maintenance shop clean and well organized.
• Responsible for filling out a Hot Work Permits and following Lock-Out /Tag- Out procedures when equipment is being worked upon.
• Must be able to wire single phase or three phase electrical circuit for new equipment installation. Must have experience with new equipment as it relates to runoff, installation and start-up.

Qualifications and experience:
We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience – at least 5 - 10 years of industrial maintenance or related experience

Behaviorial requirements:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to read blueprints and electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide 2-3 digit whole numbers in all applicable units of measurement.
• Ability to do the above also using common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
