About the Position
The Quality Assurance Manager provides leadership to four chemical plants by effectively managing and continously improving the Quality Management System across the Chemicals Division. This role defines and sets the strategic direction to support the plants in achieving their quality goals. The Quality Assurance Manager will direct, plan and organize quality assurance activities and resources for the chemical plants. This role will manage and oversee the timely and accurate generation of in process finished product data for the chemical plants. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for fostering a culture of continuous improvement in all processes and service functions throughout the Chemical Division. In addition, this role builds and maintains supplier and customer relationships that adds value and revenue to the Chemical Operations of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. In this role, the Quality Assurance Manager works directly with customers globally to address and resolve/dispute customer issues/complaints for the four Chemical facilities. In addition, this role provides leadership and supervision for the Lab staff and plays a key role in building capability. The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring adequate resources and equipment are available in the four chemical plants to enable accurate and timely data for the production of various chemical products.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Quaity Management Systems, which includes ISO9001, and the Goodyear Quality audits for all Chemical plants. This includes facilitating real time process audits, 3rd party quality audits, internal audits, and issuing corrective/preventative actions to drive continual improvements.
- Direct and manage the resources and equipment of the four Chemical Plants testing laboratories to generate accurate and timely data for the production of all Chemical and related products. Ensures this data is available for use and retreival by internal operations and external customers via the certificate of analysis. Works directly with both internal and external customer customers and suppliers to address and drive resolution to all complaints/issues.
- Directly manages the QA Lead positions for all of the Chemical plants. Lead plant QA associates to thoroughly investigate and discover root cause of all customer complaints. Drive continual improvements by issuing and following corrective/preventative actions taken to prevent reoccurence.
- Drive operational improvements by implementing projects/ideas to positively impact First Pass Prime. QA Manager also has the responsibility to collect and report the quality metrics, including First Pass Prime, customer and supplier complaint data.
- Manage and maintain the document control system, accurate finished product, packaging, and raw materials specification databases for the four Chemical Operations plants. This ensures the operating procedures and work instructions and specification data is reaily available for operations and supply chain to produce and ship elastomers and rubber chemicals.
Eduction and Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering is Required. Masters Degree is Preferred.
- 10 years experience in chemical or rubber plant operations. Five (5) years of management experience within these industries. Management experience should include a multi-plant or mulit-facility responsibilities.
Skills and Abilities
- Must have intricate working knowledge of recognized quality management systems, such as ISO9001, IATF16949, or equivalent. Must have the ability to develop and control an annual operating budget. Ability to lead/manage individuals, managers, and teams in a multi-facility environment. Must be able to communicate at all levels of the organization as well as customers and suppliers.
