NEW BEDFORD, MA – We are looking for an Adult Psychiatrist who will serve as the Medical Director of Adult Services for our non-profit agency. The Medical Director must possess a DEA X waiver registration for prescribing of MOUD (Medication for Opioid Disorder). The Medical Director will be responsible for clinical and medical oversight and quality of care across all CBHC services. The Medical Director is a medical professional who actively supports and implements the established treatment goals and principles of the agency.
Consultation to other programs providing treatment and support to adults with mental health and substance use will take place. Duties may be provided remotely and/or in-person; the combination to be negotiated. This individual is directly responsible to the VP of Behavioral Health and Psychiatry Services.
Qualifications:
- Licensed to practice psychiatry in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Board-Certified or board eligible before the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
- MD degree; Board eligible as an Adult Psychiatrist
- Must possess DEA X waiver registration
- Remote or In-Person: combination to be negotiated
- Part-time (15-29 hours) or Full-time (30-40 hours)
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are not meant to be all inclusive and may be adjusted to meet the agency’s needs.
- Evaluate psychiatric, neurological and psychopharmacological status of clients
- Participate in the development of client diagnoses and behaviorally oriented treatment plans
- Prescribe and supervise psychopharmacology and MOUD (Medication for Opioid Disorder)
- Evaluate clients for hospitalization
- Provide clinical supervision to Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners with adult and SUD cases
- Participate in on-call for the 24 hour programs
- Participate in multidisciplinary team and Continuous Quality Improvement Committee
- Develop policies and protocols for pharmacological procedures
- Participate in planning and development of psychiatric and mental health services within a managed care framework
- Provide emergency and crisis intervention services
- Be available for consultation when needed, to staff and other service providers
- Assess and refer, where appropriate, non-psychiatric health problems
- Provide training to staff
- Other duties as needed
