Oakland Psychological Clinic is a premier outpatient private practice offering mental health and chemical dependency services in 8 convenient locations in Southeastern Michigan. We are seeking a Full-Time Medical Records Auditor to support our Grand Blanc and Flint locations (Travel between the two offices required).

Job Summary: The Medical Records Auditor Must be able to follow procedures related to Confidentiality of Patient Records and Disclosure of Patient Records policies. Because of integral involvement with patient care, the Medical Records Auditor position may have access to the entire medical record on an “as-needed” basis. It is expected that the insurance and managed care specialists will restrict their review of records to the insurance information and, as needed, the progress notes. The secretary who assists with the psychiatric services is expected to routinely review the record as it relates to psychiatric evaluation and medication management. The Medical Records Auditor has unrestricted access to the medical record. This position also supports the front office with the following processes: medical records, insurance/managed care tracking, psychiatric support, or front desk senior secretary.

Job Responsibilities:

• Audits clinical records at intake, randomly and in accordance with schedule
• Is knowledgeable about various insurance programs’ requirements
• Ensures charts needing certification are signed in a timely manner
• Conducts ongoing quality assurance and utilization review
• Issues report's to therapists and follows up on their completion
• Prepares records for surveys and inspections
• Complies with subpoenas in accordance with policy
• Follows through on requests for records
• Ensures confidentiality of records
• Implements systems as required by policy
• May direct the efforts of file clerks or other secretaries
• Is the lead receptionist at the front desk
• Completes intakes thoroughly, accurately and oversees correct case assignment of other secretaries at the request of the Office Manager
• Explains patient accounts and problem-solves account issues with the patients
• Handles messages from the Answering Service.
• Coordinates outgoing Answering Service messages
• Trains new receptionists, as assigned
• Other Duties as Requested

Requirements:

• A minimum of one year of previous office experience in a similar setting; one year of previous experience internally with Oakland Psychological Clinic, P.C. desirable.
• High school diploma; advanced coursework in business management desirable
• Comfortable on computers (EMR experience preferred)
• Exceptional customer service skills

Salary Range:

• $16-17/HR

Hours:

40 hours a week, Monday -Thursday 12:00 pm to 8:30 pm and Friday- 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Oakland Psychological Clinic, P.C. (OPC) is an outpatient mental health and chemical dependency clinic serving children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and the elderly with eight convenient locations in Southeastern Michigan. The company was founded by Barry Tigay, Ph.D. in 1983. Dr. Tigay received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Wayne State University in 1977 and did his internship at Lafayette Clinic in Detroit.
