Natural Gas Analyst – Gas Acquisition
This Analyst is responsible for supporting the Gas Acquisition Department in the the purchase,sale, scheduling and accounting of natural gas to meet PGW’s daily and annual natural gas needs. The incumbent has a working knowledge of contracts with Pipelines, Producers, and third party suppliers. Maintains current knowledge of all the terms and conditions of PGW’s natural gas supply contracts so that they can be utilized without committing a violation of such terms. The incumbent must work. The incumbent must work within the department to ensure prompt responses to any changes in gas supply or delivery, as well as has a working understanding of the task flows within the department to meet the needs of gas acquisition, accounting and responses to intercompany reposts and outside regulators.
Develop and communicates nominations of PGW’s gas supply needs and receipt point requirements to PGW’s Pipeline Suppliers and PGW’s Gas Control section; submits nominations to PGW’s pipelines for the receipt of all natural gas to PGW; monitors and changes nominations for changing loads or switching of receipt points as made necessary by Third Party Suppliers.
Assist in the operation of PGW revenue optimization activities including asset management arrangements, off-system revenue programs; and bundled off-system sales.
Assist in PGW’s participation in the capacity release market to ensure that PGW’s excess firm capacity receives fair market value in the capacity release market, posting of excess firm capacity on pipeline electronic bulletin boards.
Monitor and communicate within the department natural gas markets prices and trends, including NYMEX, daily and regional prices.
Monitor, analyze federal, state, and local regulatory agency decisions, ordinances, etc. and Section 4 or 5 rate case proceeding which may impact PGW’s operations and cash-flow. Assist Administrator in communicating impacts of potential tariff rates on PGW.
Maintain, prepare documents for accounting and data responses to governmental agencies and other authorized requesters, including PA PUC 13071 documents.
Maintain an awareness of imbalance penalties assessed by pipelines and to the greatest extent possible, avoids the violation of tariffs which cause such penalties to take effect.
Perform other special projects, assignments, tasks / duties as requested.
Must have analytical skills with the ability to collect, analyze and report impact of all transport activities on budget and daily operations.
Must have verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across department lines as well as suppliers representatives, pipeline personnel , end-users, and skilled workers.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and financial software systems such as Oracle, Clarity, Quicken, etc.. and the ability to learn pipeline EBB packages.
Must be able to multi-task with the ability to work effectively under pressure while meeting deadlines
Must have interpersonal skills with the ability to secure harmony and cooperation of personnel at all levels, including producers, gas brokers, pipeline employees end-users and related company employees
Must be flexible with the ability to work out-of-hours as needed.
