The Nutrition Services Division delivers nutritious food and daily contact to seniors of various independence levels throughout Contra Costa County through a variety of different programs.

The Meals on Wheels program (home-delivered meals) delivers to homebound seniors with a dedicated staff of employees and volunteers. The program supports independence while promoting the social, physical, and emotional well-being of older adults. Within our organization, the program consists of outreach staff, paid delivery associates, and volunteer drivers who deliver meals to home-bound seniors on specified routes, Monday through Friday.

The Cafés provide hot, nutritious meals and social interaction to ambulatory seniors Monday-Friday at various café locations throughout the County. Cafés are run by Café staff and various volunteers. Food for the Cafés is brought to each location in the morning and must be checked and distributed according to County and food safety guidelines. There are five different Café locations: Rodeo, Antioch, Pittsburg, Bay Point, and Walnut Creek.

The Breakfast Bag program delivers healthy breakfast items to our most food-insecure seniors.

The Grocery Bag program partners with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano to deliver groceries to low-income seniors in need of food.

These and other nutrition-based services make up the Nutrition Services Division.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Division Manager is responsible for successful reporting and budget administration, contributing to the vision, strategic planning, and anticipating current and future needs within the division. This position reports to the Director of Programs.

The primary functions of this position are:

• Ensure program compliance and compliance with funding sources.
• Manage and develop staff to oversee all functions of the Department.
• Serve as a member of the organization’s Leadership Team.

This is a full-time, exempt position and is primarily located in the Walnut Creek office.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that the program is in compliance with government guidelines.
• Complete and submit required reporting accurately and on time.
• Supervise staff to implement program operational specifics.
• Run the program within budget restrictions, objectives and plans, and office policies.
• Attend regular Café meetings and ensure that all Cafés are represented.
• Create and implement a plan for increasing participation in all Nutrition programs.
• Ensure that all staff and volunteers are properly trained and protocols are being followed.
• Maintain and update the Nutrition Services Division program manual.
• Provide information, reports, or other materials as required.
• Make presentations to community organizations and government agencies as needed.
• Conduct necessary organization orientations.
• Some travel required to locations within Contra Costa County.
• Assist with additional tasks as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Detail oriented, reliable, punctual, and independent.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Superior computer skills with advanced abilities in Microsoft Office applications, including Adobe, Excel and Word. Must be comfortable learning and working with different web-based programs.
• Professional appearance.
• Comfortable with public speaking.
• Sensitive to the needs of older adults.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
• Must be vaccinated against Covid-19.
