Position
The Paralegal position performs a variety of complex administrative and support duties designed to expedite executive, administrative, and general legal functions of the General Counsel including correspondence, scheduling, and special projects as assigned. Because the position has access to confidential attorney-client privileged information the position has an “At-Will” classification where the incumbent serves at the will of the General Counsel and may be removed at any time without cause, notice, or right of appeal.
- Performs highly responsible and complex administrative, secretarial, and office support functions for the General Counsel and District staff; serves as a confidential assistant to the General Counsel for District administrative functions.
- Prepares draft correspondences and Pleadings under the supervision of the General Counsel.
- Coordinates duties with Public Information Officer as needed; attends various board, sub-committee, and task force meetings.
- Creates and manages files for the General Counsel.
- Assists in the implementation of records management functions for the District staff.
- Monitors work requests for the General Counsel and ensures contract review and approvals are done pursuant to the District’s policies.
- Processes insurance subrogation claims.
- Performs basic legal research for the General Counsel.
- Drafts policies and Resolutions upon the request and at the Direction of the District’s Board, General Counsel, and Executive Director.
- Maintains critical records including final copies of all contracts, minutes, resolutions, Memoranda of Agreement, Memoranda of Understanding, and any other documents which receive Board, Executive Director or General Counsel approval; organizes, archives, copies, maintains, and retrieves records, documents, reports, and files; directs and/or participates in implementing the District’s records retention program in accordance with District policy.
- Observes and complies with all District and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or a related field.
- Two years of experience in a legal assistant or paralegal position.
