Job Overview:
The Pipefitter assembles, installs, and repairs pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
  • Installs or repairs water, steam, gas or other types of pipe and pipe fittings.
  • Lays out work and measures to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications.
  • Cuts various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer or oxyacetylene torch or pipe‑cutting machines or tools.
  • Threads pipe with stocks and dies, bending pipe by hand‑driven or power‑driven machines.
  • Assembles pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers.
  • Makes standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required.
  • Makes standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications.
  • Installs and repairs building sanitation or heating system.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Mandatory:
  • Four (4) years of rounded experience as a pipefitter.
  • Knowledge of piping system operation including pumps, compressors, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, etc.
  • Must be able to successfully complete Welder Performance Qualification Tests in accordance with ASME Section IX 2-3/4” diameter x 5/8” thick carbon steel pipe, 1/8” GTAW (ER70S-2) open butt root, remainder SMAW (E7018), Position 6G. All Test Coupons will be evaluated by radiography in accordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualification.
  • Must have and maintain hand tools of the trade to perform the normal work of the classifications.
  • Must obtain and maintain required explosives certifications when assigned to ordnance operations.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid State driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Must meet and maintain company physical and security requirements, including respirator qualification, and clearance eligibility when required.
  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
  • Must possess good communication skills for a service team environment.
  • Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
