PRE-COLLEGE ADVISOR/CASE MANAGER
Edmonds Career Access Program (EdCAP)
SALARY: $50,143.84 - $56,297.85
LOCATION: Lynnwood, WA
DESCRIPTION:
The advising/case management position is responsible for recruiting, enrolling and providing ongoing support for either 16-21 year old students enrolled in our EDCAP program. These positions advise students in the selection of coursework, creation of educational and career plans, and development of college success skills. Case Managers are responsible for tracking and managing student progress from intake to completion and through transition to employment and/or post-secondary education. The people best suited for these positions demonstrate strong advocacy and collaboration skills to work effectively as part of a dynamic and evolving team of case managers, administrators, and instructors.
The EDCAP Case Manager serves Opportunity Youth ages 16-21 who have experienced barriers to academic success and are at risk of dropping out of high school. They provide one-on-one support to students on a quarterly basis to foster and reduce barriers to academic success. This work requires dedication, flexibility, teamwork and a passion to serve young people.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Enrollment management/registration
- Develop and lead information, orientation and advising sessions.
- Register students for classes, ensuring that their registration is consistent with their residency status, eligibility and needs.
- Assist students in navigating other Enrollment Services processes such as dropping and withdrawing from classes and requesting medical withdrawals.
Case Management/Student retention
- Provide daily, consistent and accessible support to students as they move through the program.
- Support students who are failing to meet academic standards and need extra support.
- Support students in crisis.
- Provide academic advising (High School Diploma, GED and college degrees/certificates) and monitor progress towards graduation.
- Carry out mandatory reporting functions for Title IX, Child Protective Services, and behavioral intervention reporting.
Program Outreach/Partnership management
- Strengthen and maintain relationships with internal and external campus partners to facilitate program coordination, information exchange, and the expansion of partnerships.
- Refer students to appropriate resources within the college and greater community including mental health counseling, housing, and drug and alcohol treatment.
- Partner with local school district, high schools and other college programs to support student success
Reporting/Data Management
- Use the college’s Student Management System
- Manage case files, notes and digital records, demonstrating attention to detail.
- Track student contact data for grant reporting purposes

These are exempt positions reporting directly to their corresponding Advising Managers within the Pre-College Education Division.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.A. in social work, education, human services OR a related field
- At least one year of professional experience providing student support services, educational planning, student advising, case management and/or counseling services to young people (16+) and/or adults
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience working with, and commitment to historically marginalized populations including individuals from first-generation, multicultural and low-income backgrounds.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual/Multilingual, Spanish/English preferred
- Experience working with young adults facing multiple barriers to success (EDCAP position)
- Masters in Social Work, Education, Human Services, or related field, and/or strong work history connecting students/clients to community resources.
- Computer proficiency, specifically with Microsoft Office and Google Applications.
- Demonstrated success working in a team environment including excellent collaborative and conflict resolution skills.
- Established record providing effective, ongoing case management and resource navigation for students experiencing barriers to success, especially in an educational setting.
- Experience in Academic Advising (High School Diploma, GED and/or college degrees/certificates) and/or experience in other student services programs.
- High organizational and problem solving abilities. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and balance a heavy workload.
PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work will be performed primarily in an office or classroom setting, and onsite/in-person. Work is generally stationary, sitting down with students or in front of the computer for most of the day. Other physical activity includes walking to the lobby to greet students and standing for extended periods of time during orientations, workshops or class presentations. Occasional travel within the state may be required for advising-related conferences and meetings.
COMPENSATION:
Salary is $50,143.84-$56,297.85 and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.
- Criminal background check. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
- All new positions are contingent upon funding.
