The City of Lake Forest is looking for qualified adults to teach at Kinderhaven Preschool Academy of the Lake Forest Parks and Recreation Department. Teachers are expected to supervise the class, enforce safety procedures, instruct children on the class curriculum, and assist with set-up and take-down of classroom. Prospective teachers must show strong leadership skills, independent functioning, and a passion for working with children, have a team mentality and be positive role models for youth in the community.

Responsibilities include: Develop curriculum for school year Help with daily set-up and take-down of classroom Enforce school rules and regulations Provide safe and friendly environment Teach students the daily lesson Foster an organized classroom setting Provide excellent customer service to parents and children enrolled at Kinderhaven Preschool Academy

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience working with children. Specifically preschool aged children preferred Knowledge of early childhood development Experience or knowledge of the Reggio Amelia Approach to early childhood education is a plus Must be able to work in a team environment Willingness to work additional hours is a plus Ability to work up to 8-12 hours per week Understanding of a sound recreation philosophy Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong leadership skills

Requirements: High School Diploma/GED Able to lift 50 lbs. Must provide 3 letters of recommendation Ability to be self-driven and willingness to engage in continuing education Must pass DCFS background check

Pay Rate: $16.00-$22.00 per hour based on education and work experience
