Professional Cat Sitter

Full Time
San Antonio, TX

Job description

Unlike app based pet-sitting gigs, we’re uniquely a San Antonio based business. We started in 1994 with the mission to elevate cat care in the pet sitting industry beyond an afterthought behind dogs to first-place with quality in-home care and companionship for cats by loving, knowledgeable cat sitters. Today our processes, decades of experience, and wild devotion to cats goes into every visit. The ultimate measure of success is when clients come home, sum up their experience, and give a grade. Our client testimonials and reviews go beyond generalities and instead detail the challenges we handled successfully and how we went above and beyond for them and their cats. It makes us feel great and the mission continues!

Would you like to start your workday with whiskered faces happy to see you and finish your day feeling fulfilled when clients express deep appreciation for the care you gave their cats and homes, and the difference you made for them while they were away?

Instead of being locked in the usual 4-walled office would you prefer visiting a variety of home environments and kitties? If so, this job might be purr-fect for you!

This position is perfect for cat lovers looking for part-time supplemental income such as semi-retired, stay-at-home individuals, or adding part-time income doing something fun to supplement an existing paycheck.

We’re looking for amazing cat-savvy people within proximity to our service area, with great cat care and customer service skills to join our fun cat-centric team as a professional in-home cat sitter as we continue to grow!

  • Full training and ongoing support from both team members & original owners
  • Education including pet CPR/first-aid, pet sitting training certification, regular feline educational material-Cornell University, and always learning new things about cats being on the job
  • Taxes withheld from paychecks for you (not the lump tax liability surprise at the end of the year like contractor status employment)
  • paid employer-portion social security & medicare taxes with employee status (unlike contractor employment status that is burdened with these taxes)
  • Insurance, bonding, and worker’s compensation coverage for your protection
  • Real employee status allowing for ongoing training, guidance and support (contractor sitters are considered self-employed and not allowed to receive company specific training or guidance)

On a typical day as a cat sitter you will arrive at clients’ homes to

  • feed, clean litter boxes, administer any medications, and carry out other details
  • monitor cats’ well-being and document through detailed notes & communication with the team
  • lavish attention on and enjoy time with client cats
  • visit anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes as predetermined
  • security check the home

  • update online client notes and records

  • visiting schedule of 0-5 visits per day (busiest normally on: holidays, weekends, summer)

Other miscellaneous things you might expect

  • water plants, fill bird feeders, empty pool baskets
  • troubleshooting, solving & reporting problems such as ill pets or household issues

Skills and requirements:

  • computer with internet access, printer, good with phone apps
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Have flexibility to work split shift windows ( 700am-11am, plus some late afternoons 4p-6p)

  • Are punctual, dependable, rock-solid reliable
