Job Overview:
This Project Controller I (PC I) position is an entry-level position that is primarily responsible for supporting, leading, and influencing process development, training of site management, and field engineers on every project. The PC I will learn, support, train and influence following activities: Budgets, weekly cost reporting, project planning, scheduling, earned value analysis (EVA), quantity tracking spreadsheets, equipment and timekeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, progress reporting, cost control analysis, forecasting, cost and cash flow forecasting, and contingency management for the project within their respective business unit.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Monitoring the progress of the projects and operations budgets, investigating variances, and ensuring that all forecast budgets, accruals, within the guidelines of the PSC organization. A strong expectation is placed on challenging the way we do business and thinking differently to improve the overall health of our company.
- Work with the Project Manager in monitoring and performing project controls functions.
- Actively involved with the Site Managers, Field Engineers and PM teams to ensure they get their direction/support needed.
- Provide support in weekly, monthly and quarterly report creation and reviews.
- Supporting Field Engineers to ensure valid and accurate quantities are reported daily, monitor daily productivity and planned percent complete
- Leading and training Purchasing and Field Engineers to ensure valid and accurate costing of PO and Subcontract invoices daily, report number of outstanding invoices, and expedite all invoices
- Supporting and training Project Managers and Project Controls Specialist with all required monthly and quarterly financial reports for his or her assigned projects.
- Attend with the Project Manager any weekly and monthly owner meetings as needed.
- Support PM’s, Directors, VP’s, and PCM with special reports, requests, analysis, subcontractor/EPC daily, weekly, monthly reports to ensure data accuracy, and/or other Site Manager miscellaneous day to day activities.
- Attend and participate in the Plan of the Day (POD) and Daily Managers meeting to obtain all information related to project controls.
- Operate in the best interest of PSC. Influence the decisions being made by management and hold other departments accountable to their deliverables.
Basic Qualifications:
- A two (2) year Associate or global equivalent in Construction Management, Electrical/Civil/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, Accounting/Finance, Project Management
- 0-5 years of experience and preference given for experience in Solar, Renewable Energy or Power Generation. PMP Certification desirable
- Proficiency and/or Mastery of Excel, MS Office, Primavera and/or MS Project, Ecosys, Viewpoint, and Document Control programs
- Excellent communication skills to deal with owners and employees
- Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Possess a solid understanding of job costing
- Ability to read and understand prints and contract documents
- Knows and understands the required federal and state codes for the project
- Tolerance for 100% travel, office mobility, and challenging weather conditions
- Self-disciplined, motivated, able to work with limited direct supervision, self-sufficient problem solver
- Able to quickly adjust to changing priorities, assimilate directives with little guidance, take initiative
- Attention to detail, constant process improvement vigilance, and meet diligent deliverable deadlines
