We’re actively seeking a talented model developer to join our Annuity modeling team within the Consumer Markets Division. This role can be on-site, hybrid, or 100% remote.

As a Prophet modeling expert, you’ll play a key role in Pacific Life’s growth and long-term success by working on Prophet model development for Variable (VA) and Fixed Annuity (FA & FIA) products. You will collaborate with Pricing, Valuation, ALM, Hedging and IT infrastructure teams to provide cutting edge modeling and reporting capabilities. Your colleagues will include software and data engineers, data scientists and fellow actuarial professionals.

We are open to considering both Actuary and non-Actuary developers for this role.

How you will make an impact :
Work in a modeling role focused on model development for new and existing annuity products
Perform model development and testing/debugging of Prophet models, peer review changes made by other team members and act as an internal Prophet expert for your colleagues
Proactively evaluate and recommend modeling strategies and potential approaches to find solutions that best address business needs
Lead model development initiatives that improve and expand existing models
Partner with IT and functional areas to develop simple, effective, and innovative solutions to simplify modeling processes
Provide training to model users to ease learning curve and further develop training materials, tools and templates based on the model risk management policy and standards
As the model liaison, educate model users on new model features developed and support related production implementation efforts through model deployment
Provide guidance and expertise to junior staff on methodology, model implementation, and testing/debugging to support modeling initiatives
Support and comply with all Model Risk Management initiatives, documentation and standards.

The experience you will bring:
Bachelor’s in actuarial science, computer science, finance, mathematics or related field
5+ years’ experience in actuarial modeling and coding
Advanced knowledge and experience in Prophet, especially experience with asset and ALM modeling in Prophet
Self-starter with ability to develop solutions by collaborating with multiple business partners
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, and to manage long-term projects
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills ​

What will make you stand out:
Excellent communication skill
Experience coding in Python, Visual Basic, and SQL
Experience working with Azure DevOps, pipelines and AWS
Experience with Variable Annuity (VA), Fixed Annuity (FA), Fixed Index Annuity (FIA) and other annuity products
Experience with ALM/Hedging
ASA/FSA/CFA designation

Base Pay Range:
The base pay range noted provides a basis to determine the appropriate offer dependent upon several factors including but not limited to geographic location, experience, skills, education and pay equity. Also, most employees are eligible for additional incentive pay.
$138,400.00 - $173,000.00 - $233,600.00
