Position Summary:
We are looking for a passionate, curious, and driven Purchasing Manager to join our Finance, Accounting, and Purchasing organization at Guardian. The Purchasing Manager will directly oversee all purchasing activities, including the direction and supervision of the Purchasing Agents. This role will be critical in analyzing purchase requests and granting approval of purchase orders; ensuring that Guardian is well positioned to provide products to our customer base and prospective new customers while managing our inventory profile. You will also analyze changes or new issues in materials and supplies to find ways to reduce costs and improve quality.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Establish and maintain vendor relationships
- Work with vendors to reduce lead times and streamline purchasing activities
- Routinely evaluate vendor performance
- Research component descriptions to ensure vendor compliance with company specifications
- Create and implement purchasing strategies and policies
- Document end-to-end purchasing processes; finding areas of opportunity to drive efficiencies
- With the purchasing agent team, process all orders in a timely manner to meet or exceed budgetary requirements
- Prepare contracts and issue POs in accordance with company policy and negotiated terms and conditions
- Utilize sound negotiation and value analysis skills to reduce overall costs
- Manage PPV monthly review routine, suggest updates to standard cost based on actual prices
- Lead special projects, analysis, and benchmarking
- Partner with inventory control and operations to develop and maintain minimum and maximum reorder requirements established for each location and support business inventory control processes
- Assist with item setup in systems such as JD Edwards and MasterMind
What You’ll Need:
- 4 or more years of purchasing, inventory, and/or supply chain experience
- An excellent negotiator who is experienced in contract and pricing negotiations
- A well organized, energetic, self-directed individual; forward-thinking and creative
- A team-oriented individual with analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
- Experience working with multiple teams within an organization to drive alignment and process improvements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Must be proficient in MS Excel.
