Overview:
The Supply Chain Specialist (Buyer) role is critical in connecting Aera’s internal key customers and stakeholders to the resources and capabilities of our extensive supplier base. This team member executes a cross-functional role, working across teams and functions and interfacing with Aera leadership at multiple levels. Contracts managed by this role cover a wide spectrum of scopes of work performed by suppliers who service Aera’s assets across the region to deliver timely sourcing requirements.
The Buyer works to maximize the value the Supply Chain team brings to Aera by aligning with long-term business objectives, partnering with internal stakeholders on Lean and continuous improvement, and ensuring uninterrupted flow of services and materials through skillful contract management, effective communication, and extensive collaboration.
To achieve these objectives, the position oversees several key processes and team KPI’s, working closely with Aera’s Supply Chain leadership and reporting directly to the Contracts Team Supervisor.

Position Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- Provide responsive and effective contracting support to customers
- Create sound, thorough contracts with new and existing suppliers and coordinate onboarding process
- Collaborate with Procurement Team members to standardize and continuously improve procurement-related business processes
- Understand and execute bidding and negotiation process tools to support project work
- Management of existing contractual relationships and evaluation and addition of new suppliers
- Comply with Procurement guidelines and standard procedures
- Facilitate effective communication between customers and external suppliers
- Manage existing contractual relationships and evaluate new suppliers
- Analyze spend data and market trends, internal customer forecasts and make recommendations on supplier, material, service selection
- Support customer efforts to reduce costs through Lean kaizen activities, supplier technology evaluation, complexity reduction, and material and/or labor standardization
- Become knowledgeable of customer processes and business needs
- Serve as a liaison between multiple internal customers to share standards and best practices
- Manage, monitor, and improve supplier performance through supplier metrics, category strategies, participation in supplier business reviews, and/or other tools
Required Skills
- Good to excellent knowledge of MS Office and Teams, SAP, Tableau, and Cobblestone
- Able to read, write, and negotiate contract terms and conditions
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles
- Ability to collect and analyze information, problem solve, and make decisions
- Understanding of basic statistics and continuous improvement tools
- Efficient time planning and scheduling, prioritization of high value activities
- Self-starter with strong customer service focus who proactively engages customers and suppliers in finding waste-reduction opportunities
- Strong negotiation, bidding, and analytical skills
- Confident and effective business communication, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills
- Excellent listener, ability to articulate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Construction Management, or other relevant discipline required
- 3-5 years’ direct experience as a Supply Chain Buyer preferred
