Job description
Responsible for the deployment of systems to educational stakeholders and assessment of effective utilization of technology-rich learning environments. Responsible for advocating and facilitating the use of Watt Center resources in curricula for improved student-learning outcomes. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Assessment and Campus-wide Coordination: Develop recommendations for assessment of Watt technology/architecture needs for learning and collaboration systems. Conduct research and assessments of the impacts of Watt Center instructional technology on teaching practices, student-learning outcomes, and academic engagement. Conduct assessments of the impacts of Watt Center technology use and assist with developing case studies showcasing Watt Center technology. Collaborate with Watt Leadership Team, as well as Clemson Online (CO), Office of Teaching Effectiveness and Innovation (OTEI), Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment (OIEA), Libraries, and other units, as applicable to accomplish goals. Efforts should lead to presentation of results at appropriate conferences.
25% - Essential - Technology: Research and evaluate applications of technology for meeting the needs of educational stakeholders and supporting the Watt Center vision and mission. Engage educational stakeholders and forward the testing and adoption of new technology for learning and collaboration systems. Evaluate hardware and software applications; support installation; and participate in the testing/refinement of new equipment/systems.
25% - Essential - Training Development and Management: Develop and deliver (and continuously refine) a training program for Watt educational stakeholders on the use of instructional technologies and innovative pedagogies. Assist researchers and faculty in becoming proficient in using technologies available in the Watt Center and facilitate the use of Watt technologies in novel ways within curricula. Provide ongoing technology support for Watt educational stakeholders.
10% - Essential - Classroom management: Works with faculty and Watt Center space planners to optimize the matching of instructors to classrooms each semester. Works with faculty and IT to get classroom AV/IT, network, videoconferencing and/or recording auto-scheduling properly configured to support individual faculty goals. Documents and maintains user manuals for each Watt Center room.
10% - Essential - Technical Needs Assessment: Develop recommendations for technology planning, acquisition, and refresh for learning and collaboration systems based upon competitive benchmarking of US national universities. Develop recommendations for Watt educational stakeholders programing on instructional technologies and innovative pedagogies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Relevant technical discipline (E.g. Computer Science) or education discipline (E.g. Learning Sciences).
Experience - 2+ years
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree in relevant technical discipline (E.g. Computer Science) or a relevant education discipline (E.g. Learning Sciences).
Experience - 5+ years in a similar position at a technology-rich higher education institution.
