Job Description: BLASTER
Looking for a steady, year around job with a company that has been here for 50 years? We support local manufactures with metal finishing services and are looking for a dependable, hard worker with a good and 'can-do' attitude, who is wanting to be a key part of our team. Cannot be afraid of getting dirty. If unable to commit to a 40 hr. week and to be on time with no excuses, then please move on to the next opportunity. Willing to train the right person so don't worry about lack of experience. We are just looking for someone wanting to do an honest days work, we will take care of the rest.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Able to read, understand, and perform the instructions on work orders or purchase orders.
- Responsible for checking parts for any damage or any abnormality prior to blasting.
- Disassemble units prior to blasting and being able to keep like unit and ID numbers associated with the correct parts.
- Responsible for blasting different parts with the appropriate abrasive to achieve the correct surface specified.
- Responsible for complete skid/part blow down and removal of all grit prior to moving parts to paint area or truck.
- Cleaning of blast room of all grit & reclaiming it to holding hopper for sifting/size classification.
- Monitor abrasive reclamation equipment and keep running efficiently.
- Responsible for keeping blast room and blast hopper area clean at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have good attendance, be on time, and have a good work history.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and/or reliable means of transportation to and from work.
- Some general knowledge of blasting and or metal finishing processes is preferred, but we are willing to train the right person.
- Must be mechanically inclined and good with their hands, good hand eye coordination, willing to get dirty, and not overly sensitive to odors.
- Must demonstrate positive character, good attitude and willingness to perform your job duties to the best of your ability.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly.
- Must be in good health and agile.
- Must be willing to take drug test and have a physical exam prior to hiring.
- Must be able to work overtime as required or assigned. (Rarely)
Ability to:
- Make precise arm-hand positioning movements and maintain static arm-hand position.
- Make fine, highly controlled muscular movements to adjust the position of a control mechanism.
- Able to wear an air fed helmet and cape.
- Make skillful, controlled manipulations of small objects.
- Sustain arms above shoulder level.
- Work in small cramped areas.
- Work at heights up to 10 feet.
- Clean equipment using appropriate materials and maintaining them in good working order.
- Move heavy objects (50 lbs or less) long distances (more than 20 feet). Two or more people required to move anything over 50 lbs.
- Remain in a standing, kneeling, stooping, and forward bent positions for extended periods of time.
- Learn job related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning is mainly in on-the-job training setting.
- Twist torso 45 to 90 degrees to perform essential functions.
- Ability to perform job requirements in time allotted for a specific jobs.

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
