The Security Specialist will support government security management at the US Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards Air Force Base in California, ensuring compliance with security regulations, maintaining up-to-date security clearances, and delivering relevant security training. You will play a critical role in safeguarding classified information and fostering a secure environment for the execution of vital operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Security Specialist will be responsible for:
- Collaborating with government security management personnel to ensure compliance with security policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Managing and maintaining security clearance records for personnel working at the US Air Force Test Pilot School.
- Conducting periodic security reviews and audits to identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of security protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Providing guidance and support to personnel regarding security requirements, procedures, and practices.
- Conducting security briefings, training sessions, and workshops to ensure personnel are aware of and adhere to security policies.
- Coordinating with external agencies, such as the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), for security clearance processing and investigations.
- Staying current with changes in security regulations, policies, and procedures, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Participating in security incident investigations and providing recommendations for prevention and mitigation, as needed.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of security-related activities and incidents.
- Supporting the development and implementation of physical security measures, including access control systems, alarm systems, and video surveillance.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 3 years of experience in a security management or related role
- Experience administering DoD security programs, including SCI and SAP programs/facilities
- Experience in processing SF-86, SF-312, Security Investigations and Periodic Reinvestigations
- Proficient in written and verbal communications
- Strong understanding of Physical Security requirements to include collateral Closed and Restricted areas
- Strong understanding of security best practices and the ability to apply them effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with individuals at all levels.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in using security management software and tools
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience as an Assistant Facility Security Officer or equivalent position
- Experience working in the aerospace and defense industry or a government/military environment.
- Knowledge of IT security principles and practices.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based collaborative resources such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams
