Role Summary:

The market opportunities are exploding for deploying deeply integrated Chip-to-Industry services in multiple verticals, and, requires aligning engineering feasibility, sound architecture, embedded and solution platform software roadmap, innovative business model and robust go to market strategy. The Chip-to-Industry Leader will deliver long term strategic blueprint to address customers need to develop complex chip to industry solution and deploy rapid, scalable, and cost efficient services across multiple verticals. The right engagement model will lay the foundation for differentiated higher margin services, compared to existing model, to create long term multiplier yields. The Chip-to-Industry Leader will provide service and ecosystem strategy leadership with a business development context across the organization by supporting the account management teams in demonstrating our capabilities and winning strategic Semiconductor & Electronic deals, by creating industry-specific solution offerings, by providing pre-sales, ecosystem management and transitioning to operational support, and by becoming known by our clients and within the company as the Industry technical expert in chip software and “Chip-to-Industry” solutions.

Responsibilities:

This position has 3 fundamental areas of responsibility:

  • Chip-to-Industry Program: Define, internally harmonize, and externally vet “Chip-to-Industry” services that enables accelerated higher margin market growth for Capgemini, working with our sales and Semiconductor & Electronics Industry and geographic market leadership and marketing teams. Chip-to-Industry blueprint will ensure sales training and enablement, sales strategies and GTM activities are aligned with the portfolio and our capability development as well, in the spirit of ensuring these offers are “Sellable, Quotable, Orderable and Deliverable”.
  • Ecosystem Partnerships: Develop strategic partnerships by working with industry ecosystem partners and internal Research and Innovation team, identify technologies and solutions required to enable mid-term business growth and cast into compelling technology and IP/framework roadmaps that ensure our clients future success, not just todays. That our business grows in a sustainable way and delivers increased margins. This includes Go To Market strategies with our semiconductor partners enabling their successful product scaling across vertical industries, or “Chip-to-Industry”.
  • Chip-to-Industry Engagement: Engage with client decision makers and business drivers and proactively position Capgemini Chip-to-Industry services to meet their goals, and, engage with client technical teams to brainstorm their requirements and challenges, both proactively and reactively, architect and design solutions working with our engineering delivery teams, Research & Innovation (R&I) teams, 3rd party ecosystem partners including tools and IP vendors. You will solution with large, mid and small semiconductor companies, and semiconductor groups within systems companies. These of course are in the context of semiconductor software and “Chip-to-Industry” software.

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following skills. Note that breadth in semiconductor, software and industry domains is important, though it is understood the candidate may be stronger in one area than the others.

Capabilities of the Successful Candidate:

Most important is the ability to understand client SoC, chip software requirements and collaborate with them to arrive at a compelling solution from a technical and business perspective.

  • Qualify the feasibility of a project and the major needs and risks and be able to work with engineering to formulate a viable winning solution for clients.
  • Be able to architect and partition a project into its components and map those into solutions as well as determine the sourcing or development of components required to fulfill the design working with the delivery engineering team and partners in collaborative fashion.
  • Plan and review winning, differentiated proposals with client engineering teams that converge on a winning solution for them focused on outcomes and solutions, not just resources. Proposals should of course reflect operational success and value. The capabilities of mitigating obstacles, focusing on what’s important, balancing cost, features, quality and schedule, and problem solving quickly and with a “can-do” attitude are foundational to achieve winning solutions.
  • Possess both technical and business skills to achieve the above and work well in large, global companies.

Required skills, experience and personal attributes:

  • 15+ years of experience in semiconductor product development in chip software with strong emphasis on at least one of these domains: chip platform or embedded software.
  • Strong experience in product management and business development in the semiconductor space and global experience in managing customers from multiple verticals.
  • Experience in software solutions targeting one or more of the following industries: automotive, life sciences, industrial, communications, defense or others. Includes the software solutions and architectures and ecosystems of these domains.
  • Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, verbal and written) to explain complex technical topics in an easily digestible manner
  • Experience in customer facing roles such as application engineering, solution architecture, marketing, technical sales etc.
  • Experience in modern chip architectures and process nodes, and EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools
  • Hands-on engineering experience the VLSI and chip software skills highlighted below
  • Expert knowledge of the chip software architecture and development process to build large scale solutions with the latest generation of technologies
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and tasks, and work to tight deadlines
  • Strong problem solving, Intellectual curiosity, results driven, works well in fast-paced environments
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, software engineering, information technology, or related field. MBA preferred.

The following characterizes the domains of the semiconductor technology stack, for reference:

Platform software: (low-level SW generally the responsibility of semiconductor vendors – the SDK including drivers, OS, BSP, relevant middleware). Prior experience with C/C++/Java for embedded applications is essential. And familiarity with model-based system engineering languages and tools like SysML, UML, Rhapsody, etc, is helpful.

Embedded software: software that sits atop semiconductor platform software enables end applications ranging from IoT, automotive, communications/network equipment for 5G, Industry 4.0 and robotics, SmartCities, etc. While the candidate is not expected to be an expert in all of these verticals, it will be important to understand the software development process in creating these solutions and be able to work with engineering delivery teams and ecosystem partners to design solutions and develop proposals that target these types of applications.

All-in-all, it’s about bringing together the business & technical skills of chip software and VLSI design to drive profitable sales growth into all business units within the Capgemini Engineering Semiconductor & Electronics Center of Excellence.
