Position Summary: As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be responsible for design and development of analog and digital electronic hardware and associated firmware for Malema’s various flow technologies and ancillary products. You will collaborate with various departments in a fast-paced environment to ensure your products receive the engineering support they need throughout their life cycle.
You will work with Manufacturing and Procurement to enhance product yields and oversee design specifications. You will work with Sales and Marketing to answer field questions and in turn, ensure customer requirements are met internally. You will work with Quality and Reliability to resolve product issues requiring corrective actions. You will identify cost reduction opportunities and track activities to ensure timely implementation. You will work with design engineers to modify your product designs, as needed, and you will work with outside agencies to certify that product modifications stay true to the original safety requirements under the product listing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the leadership of department employees to include the overall direction, mentoring and training, if direct reports are assigned.
• Design and develop circuitry for Industrial control low power I/O devices, Microprocessor based transmitters and controllers with industrial network communication protocols. Circuit design to CE EMI/EMC testing standards (e.g., EN 55011-1998, IEC 61000-4, IEC 61000-6)
• Create component specification and hardware test specification based on required parameter, performance, and cost criteria
• Effectively use design software to design, create, and change models and multiple view drawings as required for parts, sub-assemblies, and assemblies. Performs dimensional tolerances checks and stack-up analysis.
• Interface with firmware design/development team and mechanical engineering team
• Develops and changes bill of materials (BOM’s) as required. Assists in checking drawings and BOM’s for accuracy and or ECO approval.
• Specify appropriate test equipment and engineering tools. Performs and assists in the engineering lab as required to complete validate testing.
• Provide post-production support by identifying complex technical issues, evaluating options, and implementing solutions
• Contribute to cost reduction programs of existing product designs
• Assists in the development of product technical manuals and sales literature.

• Other essential duties may be assigned as required.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Six (6) + years of related experience
• Thorough understanding and design experience in Embedded systems analog & digital circuit designs (DSP, Microcontrollers) and associated software development (C/C++ for embedded systems, using Verilog and/or VHDL and experience with FPGA + Simulation)
• Schematic and layout experience (using OrCAD, Altium or KiCad)
• Understanding of electronics manufacturing process
• Analytical skills in resolving technical issues with product failures
• Decision-making skills related to component selection
• Experience leading product safety discussions and following up through to issue resolution
• Python or similar for programming to standard Windows PC, Optional: Linux

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $130,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year
