The Shipping and Logistics Specialist is responsible for leading all inbound and outbound domestic and international shipments. In this role, the Specialist interacts with multiple freight carriers, customs brokers, and other Safran facilities to ensure products and materials flow to meet key deadlines. As needed, the Specialist also acts as back-up to other warehouse positions.

Principle duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Follow the DOT and IATA guidelines to process and handle all domestic and international shipments of Hazardous/Non-Hazardous goods, R&D samples, capital equipment, and other materials;
• Determine and arrange best method of shipment (ocean, air, land), utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, freight carriers, and current rates;
• Affix shipping labels and pertinent documentation (customs, hazardous/dangerous good, etc) on outgoing packed boxes and crates;
• Determine the correct packaging to ensure product safety during transit;
• Track all outbound and inbound shipments to ensure timely delivery; provide tracking services and resolves any shipping detention issues;
• Use internal and carrier computer systems to enter records, make material transactions, and search for required data;
• Manually lift and load materials on and off trucks and process appropriately, based on type of material;
• Operate of material handling equipment - must ensure safe operation of pallet stacker, electric pallet jack, overhead crane, and forklift trucks throughout the facility.

The successful candidate must have a high school diploma and strong warehouse/shipping experience, with international shipping experience a definite plus. Must have experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Ability to meet deadlines, pay attention to detail, and adapt to changing priorities required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills needed to interact with employees at all levels of the company as well as with external vendors. Position requires walking or standing approximately 80% of the standard work day and lifting up to 50 pounds up to 50% of a standard work day.
