Software Engineer
DEPARTMENT: IT
REPORTS TO: IT Manager
POSITION: Exempt/Salaried
The Software Engineer designs and realizes applications and data systems for the company while partnering closely with teams to understand project requirements and implement functionality accordingly. They will take ownership and accountability of their apps and databases, updating them as the company needs to evolve and fixing them as issues arise. The role must communicate complex ideas and information effectively to ensure teams are aligned on task requirements and goals. This role is working from Boise, ID and this a non-remote position. We cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Collaborate with an array of teams across the business to conceptualize and develop solutions that support many different branches of the company.
- Create scalable apps to increase functionality of the website with an enterprise view.
- Leverage APIs from numerous systems to consolidate data within data governance and data compliance standards.
- Identify and rectify weaknesses in company infrastructure.
- Work with DevOps team to update infrastructure as it evolves.
- Provide the web developer with the data they need to improve site functionality.
- Automate reporting and analytics where possible, allowing analysts to use the data effectively.
- Maintain an early-warning system that notifies the company of data anomalies, ensuring that the issue can be mitigated, and the ramifications minimized.
- Provide concise and intuitive documentation for apps and databases.
- Sync code changes to a version-history repository to maintain transparency.
- Support IT by using general knowledge and logging to identify and solve issues.
- Develop and refine reporting methods for various datasets.
- Perform other duties or special projects when assigned.
WHO YOU ARE

- Deep knowledge of:
- Complex data structures and best practices.
- Microsoft Power Platform.
- Strong experience with:
- Data platforms SQL and Airtable
- APIs: RESTFUL APIs
- Enterprise
- Extensive experience in:
- Java
- Experience in:
- C++, VBA, Ruby, R, Unix, Python
- Experience with the following is a plus:
- Front end languages such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.
- Knowledge and Awareness of industry standard coding practices.
- Self-driven.
- Strong time management and delivering solutions quickly, logically and for scalability.
- This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Prolonged sitting, standing, moderate reaching and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional overtime and weekend work and travel to other locations.
- Our positions require successfully completing the pre-employment background check and signing a nondisclosure agreement.
EDUCATION: Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experiences.
