Position Description

The Department of Health, Exercise Science and Recreation Management (HESRM) at the University of Mississippi is seeking applications for a nine-month, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructor in Sport and Recreation Administration (SRA). Applicants must have a master’s degree in sport management, sport administration, or a closely related field and a record of excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in sport marketing, sport governance and policy, sport finance, or college athletics, a history of developing and teaching online courses, and work experience in the field. The successful candidate may begin as early as August 2023.

The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate in-person and online courses, advise capstone projects, monitor student progress, assist with the development of industry partnerships and internship sites in the undergraduate SRA program. The hire will maintain expertise in assigned areas of teaching, assist with student recruitment, retention, and graduation, and serve on various departmental committees. Other duties may include course and curriculum revision and growing industry partnerships as the SRA degree program transitions toward a greater sport management emphasis. HESRM currently offers three undergraduate programs (Sport and Recreation Administration, Exercise Science, Public Health), four master’s degree programs (SRA, online Sport Analytics, Exercise Science, MPH), and a Ph.D. program in Health and Kinesiology with three emphasis areas (Sport and Recreation, Exercise Science, Public Health).
