Veterinary practice based in Lexington VA is looking for an individual with large animal & livestock experience who may also have experience with, or have an interest in and be trainable in the methods of ET (embryo transfer) work in cattle (most specifically), sheep, and goats. This ET work includes time in the field with our ET Veterinarians and will include daily travel to farms in the surrounding counties. Occasional overnight trips are required during the busiest times.

Candidate will be detail oriented, methodical and precise. Ability to work well under pressure, be reliable and be a good communicator. An interest in cattle reproduction, embryo transfer, flushing, etc. is imperative. Candidate must be comfortable around cattle and have had previous experience working with cattle. Previous ET skills are beneficial but not required. The right candidate, with the right qualities can be trained.

Specifically, ET season is busiest and will run from mid-March through mid-June and again mid-November through mid-January. Leaving a lull in work from July through October. During the lull in ET work, you will have the opportunity to go with other vets in the field and assist with other large animal veterinary calls as well as assist where needed in the clinic.

While this position will focus primarily on the ET work with cattle, there will be opportunities to participate in the same type of work with sheep and goats as well. While historically structured as a salaried position, we will consider hourly pay, contract pay, or salaried pay depending upon how the position is ultimately structured for the individual filling the role.

Our practice has been part of the Rockbridge County community since 1985 and currently has 6 doctors with a full support staff. We are one of the few practices in the area still doing large animal work as well as small animal care.

Any travel expenses associated with this position are covered by the practice. Designated as a full time position this opportunity would include: medical/dental insurance, paid holidays/vacation, pet discounts, retirement savings plan, and reimbursement for continuing education.Compensation will be based on experience level and skills.
