POSITION(s): Student Engagement Facilitator(s)QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Graduation from High School or possession of a GED. Bachelor's degree preferred. 2.

Good written and oral communication skills. 3. Knowledge of or the ability to obtain knowledge of the Newport community. 4.

Demonstrated ability to work with a culturally diverse population and sensitivity to that population. 5. Bilingual English Spanish preferred. 6.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain community programs for youth. 7. Competent user of computer technology including Google or Microsoft Office or the willingness to develop such competency. REPORTS TO: Building Principals, or his/her designee.

JOB GOALS: To positively affect student attendance and engagement with schoolRESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Build rapport with students and families struggling with consistent attendance, including home visits, and maintain a running data attendance log. 2.Review attendance data regularly and advise the attendance team or building administrator about interventions and successes3.Connect struggling families with community and/or school-based supports4.Maintains a professional awareness of state laws, regulations, school committee policies and school administrative regulations regarding child welfare and school attendance. 5.Works with the school attendance officer to refer and track progress of students involved in truancy court6.Transport students to school who need assistanceTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days per year, non-standard work hours. Salary ranges $42,000-$47,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
