Job description

ResourceTek, a leader in technical support services, is currently seeking to fill a Field Surveyor position in our Columbus office. This position reports to the RLS, Field Crew Party Chief and LSIT in Peachtree Corners, GA. Surveyors are to report in on Monday at the office and then drive together out to the site and return on Thursday or Friday. Travel varies per project. Willing to train.

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Receives training on surveying tasks from the Party Chief, LSIT, and RLS

• Ensures that all survey equipment is in proper operating condition and reports deficiencies to the RLS.

• Operates and maintains survey instruments, which includes:

• Automatic levels

• GPS receivers

• Total stations

• Magnometers

• Data collectors

• Enters data into manual or electronic field books

• Acts as the Flagman for traffic control

• Sets up stacked sights, operates level rods, gathers data with prism rods, and provides fore-sights and back-sights

• Performs other duties as required

Education/Experience Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Survey experience preferred but not required

• Valid driver’s license

• Ability to work varying schedules and overtime as required

• Ability to travel and lodge

• Effective communication (verbal and written) for the purpose of exchanging information with clients, co-workers, and others

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions

• Attention to detail

• Planning/prioritization

• Problem solving

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reference materials, construction documents, text books, and other related documents and manuals

• Knowledge of survey software and coordinate geometry software

• Intermediate ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using units of measurement

Physical Requirements

• Walk, sit, stand, frequently reach with hands, stoop, kneel, or crouch

• Frequently lift up to 100 lbs.

• Ability to walk or climb uneven terrain that consists of various changing vegetation, material, and incline on a construction site

• Visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/numeric symbols for computation and design

• Ability to handle tools such as axes, machetes, bush axes, sledge hammers, and shovels

• Occasionally drive a company owned vehicle
