Job description

Serves as the lead system administrator in ensuring all databases’ environments are deployed, maintained, and managed via proactive monitoring of performance daily. Troubleshoots problems including system failure, SSIS process, and user feedback. Monitor performance, index optimization, and process optimization. Continually survey the current system environment and make recommendations on future system needs. Actively design and develop ETL solutions that transform data for decision-making. . Provides analytical and technical expertise on systems integration, installations, replacements and upgrades of servers and operating systems. Designs, programs and/or installs advanced tools to help manage systems and application environment.

The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120- $133,010. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.


Minimum Education: • Bachelor Degree in a related field. Minimum Experience/Knowledge: • 5 years’ experience in Windows and Microsoft SQL Serversystems administration and related field.; Combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience • Previous systems administration experience. • Expert understanding and strong technical knowledge of and experience with systems administration, backups, operating systems programming languages and associated hardware platforms. • Organization/time management skills. • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills. • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Possesses the required knowledge to build, configure, load and restore a system from the ground up. Required License/Certification: • Fire and Safety Certification. If employee does not have card upon hire one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
