Venenum is seeking a Team Leader in Chemistry to join our growing drug discovery team in Hamilton, NJ.

Essential Functions:

• Drive our discovery projects forward through the design and multistep synthesis of novel small molecule therapeutics.
• Mentor a team of chemists towards the optimization of compounds to advance drug discovery programs.
• Ensure timely scale up synthesis of lead compounds for in vivo studies.
• Communicate results and design experiments as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements:

• PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with 8+ years of industrial experience in drug discovery.
• Expert knowledge of modern synthetic methods and medicinal chemistry principles.
• Understanding of the drug discovery process and a track record of contributing to the identification of lead compounds and clinical candidates.
• Laboratory chemist with an ability to lead by example at the bench.
• Experience leading a research team.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills capable of conveying scientific information in a clear and thorough manner to members of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Motivated self-starter, able to take a leadership role to get things done in a fast paced environment.
• Experience in scale up synthesis or process chemistry is a plus
• Working knowledge of related disciplines (DMPK, biology, tox, etc.)
