Position: Technical Editor

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000, Commensurate with experience

Start date: ASAP

Location: This could be an office-based telecommuting position or a fully remote position. For an office-based telecommuting position, personnel must live within one hour of our Charlottesville office. For this to be a fully remote position, candidates must live within the Washington D.C., Metropolitan area. No relocation package.

Spend your days

The Technical Editor will support the development and editing of technical, sometimes data-heavy, government and company documents, such as reports, letters, presentations, policy analyses, guides, and workbooks, to ensure that all materials are accurate, clear, and concise; written in plain language in accordance with federal writing style guidelines; free of typographical, grammatical, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and other errors; and aesthetically pleasing.

Bring with you

• Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from an accredited school.
• At least two years of experience editing in a technical field.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• A deadline-driven and client-focused attitude.
• Ability to work with little oversight and to anticipate needs.
• Knowledge of various style manuals and guidelines.
• Extensive experience working with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
• Experience with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Ability to work quickly and precisely under tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects at any given time.
• Experience with Excel, Section 508 compliance, and Adobe Photoshop not required but a plus.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Ability to obtain security clearance.
• Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status
