0.8 FTE, 64 Hours Bi-Weekly
3:00 PM - 11:00 PM Shift
Every Third Weekend Rotation
One Winter Holiday, One Summer Holiday Required

The Level 1 CT Technologist is a medical-imaging specialist given the responsibility to perform CT scanning examinations and contributes to the efficient operation of the department to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psyco/social, educational, safety and related criteria. Coordinates the CT scanning examination to ensure the quality and continuation of patient care. Performs all examinations while properly positioning the patient and equipment. Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with patients and co-workers. Ensures patient is informed about the procedure and effectively answers questions for the patient and the patient advocate as appropriate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Properly identifies each patient and reviews chart and previous radiographs for consistency and pertinent data on CT requisition. Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety and comfort.
• Selects the correct CT Protocol. Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to radiologist and communicates pertinent data on a need to know basis. Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
• Complies with organization and department mandatory training and assists with the orientation and training of new employees and students.
• Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety and environmental/infection control standards.
• Actively engaged in front-line problem solving and improvement activities using CSI tools and principles to enhance the patient experience, improve quality, and reduce waste.
• Actively involved in departmental focus board meetings.
• Uses radiation safety measures and protection devices in accordance with state and federal regulations to ensure the safety of patients and all staff.

Essential Skills and Experience:

2-year degree in related field of study. Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiology Technology. ARRT,(R) Ability to operate CT Equipment. Registry-eligible. Certification with the ARRT within 18 months of employment desired. Basic computer skills. Word. Outlook.

Nonessential Skills and Experience:

Associate degree preferred. Prior experience preferred however, level 1 CT technician is not required to have previous CT experience as on-the-job training will be provided by level 2 and lead CT technologists.

Work Environment:

Majority of time spent in a limited space and in bright and low-lighted examination rooms. Subject to normal occupational hazards for employee in radiologic work at various sites.
