Overview:
Gulfside Healthcare Services is a community-based nonprofit organization providing hospice and palliative services in Pasco County, and home health care throughout Pasco and Pinellas counties for over 30 years. We are there when our patients need us the most – providing comfort care for those living with a life-limiting illness, their loved ones and those who have lost someone special in their lives. POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Thrift Shoppes, the Thrift Shoppe & Volunteer Manager is responsible for the effective and profitable operation of the store. This person is responsible for the overall operations of a store, under the direction of the Director of Thrift Shoppes and the CFO. This includes supervising staff, volunteers, store presentation, merchandising and inventory rotation, customer service, store sales and store administration. This hands-on position trains and supervises store associates and ensures a safe and healthy work environment.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required. Post-Secondary education preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of retail, thrift shoppe or consignment stop experience required.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisory and Team Building
Foster a positive workplace and team environment through open communication.
Motivate and inspire store associates.
Cross-train store associates and volunteers to do various jobs within the thrift store.
Provide ongoing training, feedback and performance reviews for store associates.
Provide leadership through modeling appropriate behavior.
Learn all job functions of the store and cover for various roles when required.
Respect and comply with all GHS policies and procedures, ensuring that employees are aware of, and comply with policies.
Use appropriate discipline when required, as per GHS policies.
Attend and participate in regular staff meetings, communicating relevant events to the store associates.
Store Presentation and Merchandising
Ensure a clean and organized store.
Ensure proper signage and store displays are updated on a regular basis.
Ensure stock is rotated regularly and merchandise is organized and displayed to maximize sales.
Operate the store to maximize product on the sales floor.
Learn and train staff on product knowledge and merchandising.
Ensure consistent and quality sorting and pricing of donations.
Computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.

Evaluate store sales on daily/weekly basis and investigate any unusual sales fluctuations with CFO.
Customer Service
Set example in customer service for employees, welcoming and responding to customers in a courteous and helpful manner.
Ensure customer concerns are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Create a non-judgmental and supportive environment for GHS referral clients and customers,
Store Administration
Schedule store associates and volunteers to ensure effective coverage.
Ensure timesheets and payroll for employees are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain cash handling procedures and standards to record, balance, and deposit daily sales. Report and document any variances in cash.
Ensure daily and monthly reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
Order supplies and maintain appropriate supply levels.
Health, Safety, and Security
Ensure and maintain a safe working environment for employees in the store.
Report any workplace incidents on a timely basis.
Secure store premises on a daily basis.
Ensure donations and garbage left outside store premises are picked up in a timely manner.
Ensure that loss prevention processes and policies are consistently implemented.
Other
This position will occasionally require working during non-operating store hours and holidays, which may include restocking days and promotional evening and weekend events.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Strong interpersonal skills, including ability to work in a fast-paced environment with grace and good humor.
Good conflict resolution and management skills.
Good organizational skills and ability to be self-motivated.
Ability to train and develop team members, solve problems with good judgment, delegate responsibilities and make decisions independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word). Strong customer service focus
Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment preferred.
Physically fit and the ability to properly lift heavy items.
Post-secondary education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.
