General Description

The Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing daily support to Receiving and Shipping teams by organizing incoming and outgoing shipment activities.

About the job:

• $20/HR
• Schedule inbound and outbound shipments based on the site’s operational schedule
• Act as primary point of contact for carrier account representatives, including handling claims and freight payments
• Maintain detailed records and files, paper and electronic
• Respond to various types of inquiries (verbal, email, telephone), including conducting any necessary research and resolving any issues concerning shipments
• Review and verify bills of lading on all shipments
• Utilize and maintain yard management system
• Communicate and track all shipment exceptions, including trailer and unit level
• Actively participate in and promote site safety initiatives
• Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe workspace
• Complete pre/post shift inspection of assigned work area and/or equipment
• Attend daily production meeting and participate in pre-shift health & safety requirements (i.e., stretching, ensuring proper PPE)
• Perform related tasks or complete special projects that align to the site and company’s strategic business plans

About you:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• General knowledge of automated warehouse and inventory practices
• Comfortable working in a high volume, fast paced environment where priorities can shift quickly
• Ability to work both independently and in a team
• Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
• Stand and/or walk during shift, plus ability to bend, squat, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, reach with or without reasonable accommodation
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills
• Energetic, positive, and helpful demeanor, along with good communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
• Demonstrated exemplary attendance and work habits
• Knowledgeable regarding lean manufacturing and change management (5S, Gemba, Kata, Muda, etc.)
• General knowledge of warehouse management systems; Manhattan WMOS preferred
• Knowledge of how to use business intelligence and reporting platforms
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc)
