REPORTS TO: Controller and Chief Financial Officer, United Leasing & Finance
PURPOSE OF JOB: To lead and manage the Treasury & Finance Department and to support and expand the banking relationships and treasury management services for United Companies family of companies and related entities. This managerial position directly supervises a Senior Financial Analyst.
JOB DUTIES:
Across various United Companies business units and divisions provide support functions to include:
Treasury & Finance Department Management & People Development
- Effectively build, manage, train, and develop talent to support a performance culture within the department.
- Ensure supervisory responsibilities for direct reports and the larger team, including hiring, performance management, training and development, regular one-on-one direct report meetings, project management oversight, employee relations, performance appraisals, etc. Oversee daily activities, projects, reporting responsibilities, and development of staff.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of team members deliverables. Ask questions and test assumptions to provide assurance that reporting deliverables to the CEO, Business Unit Presidents, and CFO can be relied upon.
- Support pricing, cost-saving initiatives, and financial modeling in collaboration with the CEO and Business Unit Presidents at the direction of the CFO.
- Support ad-hoc tasks and perform special project work for various business projects using tools to improve financial processes and increase productivity.
United Companies Banking Relationships & Management
- Assist CFO in management and expansion of relationships with the ~10-15 major established lenders. This includes establishment of new credit facilities, both recourse and non-recourse, as well as monitoring and coordinating renewals of maturing facilities through term and condition negotiations, providing information to the lenders as required, and contract review. Act as the primary relationship with smaller banks as directed by the CFO.
- Assist CFO in finding new lending sources to support growth of the companies.
- Perform a quarterly detail review of externally reported financial statements for related entities, such as United Leasing, Inc. (ULI), United Leasing, LLC, Romain Automotive Group (RAG), and Professional Transportation, Inc. (PTI).
- Collaborate with the Controllers of ULI, PTI, and RAG to ensure that financial information reported to the CEO, CFO, and the banks is clear and consistent. Review quarterly management-prepared and annual audited/reviewed financial statements for presentation errors and prepare covenant compliance certificates for submission to banks.
- Continuously monitor and ensure timely delivery of company financial statements, certificates and other borrowing base reports as required by the banks.
- Research alternatives for financing as directed by the CFO, such as commercial paper, bonds, insurance companies, securitizations, and other financial instruments.
Interest Rate and Foreign Exchange Risks
- Analyze financial markets/economic conditions and develop projections of future movements to anticipate the impact on current funding and swap strategies.
- Manage interest rate risk. Monitor compliance of loan covenants and strategies related to interest rate hedges.
- Monitor the effectiveness of current hedging strategies and prepare recommendations based on existing and new business projections to the lease portfolio, portfolio early termination findings, and financial market conditions; while considering variable rate and fixed rate debt components and their contributions to borrowing costs, yields and spreads.
- Coordinate the execution of approved hedging strategies with the appropriate financial institutions.
- Monitor the effectiveness of current swaps as to early terminations, swap allocations and swap model performance.
- Monitor and manage foreign exchange exposures through hedging instruments, where applicable.
Fraud Prevention, Risk and Compliance
- Identify and oversee compliance and other risks of United Companies, excluding tax, general business, and human resources compliance.
- Develop a plan to address identified risks and present to the CFO as necessary.
- Assist the CFO with routine bank audits and the annual financial statement audits and reviews.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with the covenants of the Credit Agreement, such as concentrations, leverage, interest rate protections and delinquent customers.
- Monitor updates/changes in regulations (e.g. Dodd-Frank) that impact interest rate swaps.
- Provide assistance to CFO with GAAP research and new pronouncement implementation.
- Oversee commercial lending risks and compliance for ULI, including OFAC, Dodd Frank, Bank Secrecy Act, Basel III, and others. Document applicable laws and recommend changes to current processes where necessary.
- Oversee consumer lending risks and compliance for ULI, including laws enforced by the CFPB and the Federal Reserve.
- Monitor compliance on banking/credit card transactions and processes [such as National Automated Clearinghouse Association (NACHA) and Payment Card Industry (PCI)], assist with monthly PCI compliance scans and annual PCI surveys. Recommend process improvements when applicable.
- Oversee fraud prevention activities of the company. Work with team and Controllers to ensure proper controls are in place over our bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledgers. Develop and implement policies where necessary.
General
- Ensure prompt and regular attendance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Finance or Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university is minimally required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of corporate Finance and Accounting and/or Financial Planning and Analysis experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of Professional Communications experience, such as Negotiating and Networking in a professional setting.
- Experience in planning and budgeting.
- Experience supporting executive management.
- Project management experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies:
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of banking relationships, including tier 1 financial institutions, financial covenants and treasury management, and bank and financial institution audits.
