PURPOSE:
The Vice President Medical Strategy provides strategic medical and scientific leadership, subject matter experience and expertise to IQVIA, in the specialty/subspecialty or therapeutic area for which they have first hand knowledge informed by training, experience and expertise. They independently lead activities that include but are not necessarily limited to early engagement of potential customers, proposal development in response to RFPs, participation in client proposal bid defense meetings, act as a medical director and subject matter expert as a consultant throughout the research and development lifecycle and the duration of clinical trials, and/or as an independent customer solution. They collaborate across the organization to ensure that all of IQVIA's resources are fully leveraged in opportunities. Participation in thought leadership activities is highly encouraged. May have 1-5 direct reports.
The principal accountabilities for the VP, Medical Strategy - Allergy, Respiratory, Infectious Disease and Vaccines, include the strategic direction to gain market share for clinical trials outsourced to CROs in the following Centers of Excellence: Allergy/Respiratory and Infectious Diseases & Vaccines. In addition, the VP ensures that there are sufficient numbers of individuals within each Center of Excellence to perform the early engagement needed to obtain RFPs from customers, to provide input into proposals, and to represent the Centers of Excellence at bid defenses. In addition, the VP provides subject matter expertise and is available to participate in consulting activities within D&DI and GBO and to collaborate with other lines of business across R&DS.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead strategic direction of one or more centers of excellence as the therapeutic area head or surrogate.
Demonstrate oversight in strategic proposal development in conjunction with leaders of other functions.
Act as consultant to their team members and other IQVIA stakeholders throughout the research and development life cycle and the duration of clinical trials.
Review the COE business plans for those under their remit to create sustainable business growth and make recommendations to the enterprise.
REQUIREMENTS:
A medical degree from an accredited and internationally recognized medical school with a curriculum relevant to general medical education, along with a medical license ,or equivalent, from the country or region in which he/she resides and works is required, plus a minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical medicine, in addition to 8 years' clinical trials experience as an investigator or in the Pharma, CRO, or Biotech industry. Specialty Board certification desirable; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Robust and current knowledge of scientific, clinical, regulatory, commercial and competitive landscape in applicable therapeutic area.
Knowledge of applicable federal and local regulations and guidelines pertaining to clinical research. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills, including good command of English language (both written and spoken).
Strong Business Acumen.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers and clients.
Excellent skills in providing consultation and advice on multiple assignments are required, as well as initiative and flexibility.
