POSITION SUMMARY:

Supervision of Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Volunteers according to assigned court.

Youth Service Bureau is seeking a full-time CASA Supervisor to guide Volunteer Advocates in providing best-interest advocacy for children in foster care. You will be part of a team of caring and committed individuals who are passionate about changing the lives of children, helping them find safe, permanent homes free of abuse and neglect.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in social service–related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in and understanding of the child welfare system.
  • Experience in case management and working in a supervisory role.
  • Recognize and respect the sensitive nature of the work and maintain the highest confidentiality.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Word and experience in using database software for capturing case information.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and professions.
  • Prior experience as a CASA, or non-profit and/or volunteer management experiences is a plus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise trained volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocates appointed by the Court to cases of abused and neglected children or children involved in the juvenile justice system
  • Attend all Court hearings, providing staff representation as well as leadership and support to CASA volunteers, while serving as the liaison between the individual CASA volunteer and the Judge
  • Assign CASA volunteers to cases where CASA is appointed by the Court
  • Provide guidance in appropriate volunteer child advocacy and CASA duties, as outlined in the Louisiana Children's Code, Article 424, CASA Training Manual, & YSB policy
  • Monitor CASA volunteers' adherence to YSB CASA program procedure, policy, confidentiality, and professional conduct code
  • Maintain properly dated, complete, accurate, and up-to-date case files, including supervisory directives and outcomes as well as rulings of the Court
  • Meet with CASA volunteers to collect, review, and appropriately refine and edit written reports for Court
  • Provide on-going support and encouragement to CASA volunteers
  • Inform CASA Director of supervisory problems and program issues and seek approval from CASA Director for method of and execution of conflict negotiation
  • Serve as a liaison between CASA volunteers and OCS as well as other involved agencies, helping to ensure and maintain a healthy, positive working relationship
  • Assist with CASA pre-service training, ongoing training, in-service preparation, volunteer recognition functions, YSB special events, and public speaking as needed
  • Submit complete program statistics monthly and any other required information
  • Attend CASA and YSB staff meetings, YSB special events and retreats
  • Represent YSB CASA in a positive, professional manner, with projection of professional appearance and demeanor and careful attention to upholding program and agency integrity at all times

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adhere to all Youth Service Bureau personnel and program policies
  • Participate in staffing, agency development, and quality public relations
  • Attend community inter-agency meetings/staffings as needed and approved by the CASA Director
  • Participate in any other services or agency events as requested by the CASA Director and/or YSB President/CEO
