Intensive Specialty Hospital is a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital. We provide cardiopulmonary care, ventilator and respiratory care, complex wound care, rehabilitation therapies, addiction medicine program, geriatric psychiatry program, multidisciplinary pain program, and outpatient counseling program. With four locations in Shreveport and Bossier City, we will be the largest provider of LTAC services in Northwest Louisiana.

The HIM Coder performs a variety of clerical, technical and related support services required in the general operation of the Health Information Management Department. Performs discharge analysis, prepares daily census, and assists with computing statistical reports, conducts coding and abstracting, requisitions supplies, and performs release of information. Performs Performance Improvement and Medical Record Review, maintains surveillance of incomplete and delinquent records status. Relates primarily with co-workers and other hospital personnel, periodic contact with the Medical Staff and routine contact with outside agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Relevant courses in ICD-9CM coding.
- Knowledge of general medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Two or more years in a health care related field.
- At least one year in a hospital Health Information Management Department.
