If so, we should talk! – Koura, an Orbia business is hiring for a Instrumentation and Control Engineer. Based in Baton Rouge, LA.

The Instrument & Control Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control engineering systems, machinery, and processes. The I&C engineer makes sure that these systems and processes operate effectively, efficiently, and safely. The I&C engineer also needs a thorough understanding of the operational processes of the company. He/she have a multidisciplinary role, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including operations, purchasing and design.

Role Responsibilities

  • · Designing and developing new control systems
  • · Testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems
  • · Analyzing data and presenting findings in written reports
  • · Working collaboratively with design engineers, operation engineers,

purchasers, and other internal staff

  • · Liaising with clients, suppliers, contractors, and relevant authorities
  • · Project management within cost and time constrained environments
  • · Understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant health and safety

regulations Purchasing equipment

  • · Writing computer routines and test procedures
  • · Designing and implementing cost-effective controls to improve safety and

reliability

  • · Developing project specification often including those from other engineering

disciplines

  • · Developing, testing, and evaluating theoretical designs
  • · Managing projects using sound engineering principles and techniques
  • · Producing details of specifications and outline designs
  • · Monitoring and commissioning plant and systems
  • · Maintaining and repairing the plant instruments and controls
  • · Monitoring plant equipment performance and establishing maintenance

routines (preventive and predictive maintenance programs) Liaising
with installation / project engineers and specialists

  • Liaising with production, maintenance, logistics, R&D and other parts of the company

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:

  • Gas analyzers
  • Pumps
  • Heat exchangers
  • Blowers
  • Fans
  • Compressors
  • Filters
  • Tanks
  • Vessels (pressure and non-pressure)
  • Silos
  • Bucket Elevators
  • Screw conveyors
  • Dryers
  • Classifiers
  • Grinders
  • Other common chemical and petrochemical equipment

Role Requirements

  • B.S. Engineering degree
  • Must possess a proven record as an Instrument and Control Engineer in chemical and/or petrochemical industry
  • Drawings (P&ID, PFD, layout, equipment arrangement, 3D Model, etc.)
  • Computer (Excel, Word, Power Point, Auto Cad, MS Visio, MS project or Primavera, Smart P&ID, PDS or PDMS, In-Tools, etc.)
  • Advanced process control (APC)
  • Distributed control systems (DCS)
  • Programmable logic controllers (PLC)
  • Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)
  • Leadership (teamwork environment, delegation, management)
