TITLE: Mold Technician Trainee
REPORTS TO: Tool Room Supervisor
SUPERVISES: 0
JOB CLASS: Factory Hourly
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY:
We are seeking a Mold Technician Trainee to begin a 2-year training program in our Tooling and Automation department. The major focus of this position will be training in the areas of injection mold maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting. The mold trainee will be trained and supervised by a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
During the on-the-job training, the apprentice can expect to be trained to perform the following:
- Troubleshoot and repair single and multiple cavity molds
- Troubleshoot and repair hot runner systems
- Oversee the preparation of tooling in advance using the daily production schedule as a guide for upcoming product changes.
- May assist in the daily tooling changes to support the production schedule.
- Maintenance tooling according to a regular PM schedule.
- Work with engineering to introduce new tools.
- Will assist in the Injection molding area as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- The ability to work a 9-hour shift.
- Must be in good standing with the company with at least one year of service.
- Must be able to work overtime on short notice including weekends.
- Must be able to work efficiently and still maintain safety and quality standards.
- Must able to pass a Mechanical Aptitude test or equivalent experience.
- Visual aptitude - must be able to see with depth perception.
- Communication - ability to communicate verbally or non-verbally.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
- Ability to perform a standing job for 12 consecutive hours.
- Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 12-hour period.
