Departmental Overview
The ASUC Student Union is the campus "living room," offering everything from co-curricular opportunities to fun, creative activities. It serves all students and seeks to create an inclusive campus community, thereby enhancing the student experience at UC Berkeley. To this end, we provide quality services and programs that foster experiential learning opportunities and ensure a sustainable organization. We derive income from student fees, retail operations, vending, food service, and a variety of self-operated units such as the Berkeley Art Studio, Creative Lab, and Events Services. The Student Union is a department within the Division of Student Affairs and reports to the Dean of Students.

Responsibilities
Administers comprehensive student program(s) and/or administers comprehensive programs in the Student Union. Provides administrative support to the programs department within the Student Union (planning and coordinating classes, workshops, events, communication with stakeholders, etc.) as well as Cub-E student tabling program guidance and administration. Measures, assesses, and evaluates programs and student staff as needed. May provide recommendations and suggestions for changes and/or development of new activities and services. Supports hiring and management of student staff. Under the guidance of higher-level specialists resolves non-complex individual cases regarding student affairs or student life. Maintains relationships with internal and external organization stakeholders important to program success. Provides support to and collaborates with student leaders participating in co-curricular programs and or organizations on non-sensitive issues. Facilitates student development in leadership, communication skills, project coordination, and in establishing goals. Develops and maintains complex or sensitive relationships with external organizations critical to program success. Provides education, training, and reflection opportunities to students engaged in Student Union services.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of and/or ability to learn common University-specific computer application programs. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn University processes and procedures. Understanding of and/or ability to learn University rules and regulations. Interpersonal skills. Skills in service orientation, active listening, and critical thinking. Abilities in problem identification, and reasoning. Ability to multi-task, verbal communication, written communication, and organization skills. Basic abilities in project management, problem identification, and reasoning skills. Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems. Basic knowledge in program planning, implementation, and assessment. Regular shift schedule will include some evenings and weekends. Familiarity in conducting a needs assessment of the co-curricular experiences of University students.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Event planning experience.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $31.13 - $33.48.
This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits. This position is non-exempt and paid bi-weekly. This is a hybrid position, eligible for 20% remote capability.
