The Role
The Senior Director, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is responsible for the continuous strategic design/ development and implementation of Genmab’s Enterprise-wide Global Risk Program and framework, including enabling enhanced identification, mitigation/ controls, governance, and oversight/ reporting with respect to Company’s priority enterprise risks and assuring executive management, and Board visibility of same. This position serves as the organization’s main risk management expert responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders across functions and geographies and enabling timely and effective updates to the GCRC/ Global Compliance & Risk Committee as to Program development and progress as well as sharing of new and emerging risks potentially affecting Genmab’s progress toward Company Goals, its people, reputation, business, and/or products/ operations on an ongoing basis. Furthering risk awareness, education, and intelligence and connecting management and key personnel to risk framework elements are key expectations for the role.
Building upon ERM framework elements established to date, this role will be instrumental in enabling the complete ERM foundational build- inclusive of regularized Business Continuity/ Crisis Management, risk assessment, priority risk actions/ progress/ KRIs, risk appetite, workshops, education, and related elements. The role is also to lead the strategic design for a right-sized, fit-for-purpose Genmab Risk COE/ Center of Excellence that optimally supports the Company’s Vision, Purpose, and Goals in manner reflecting corporate values
The role will report directly to the Chief Compliance & Risk Officer (CCRO).
Responsibilities
o Enterprise Risk Program
  • Refine and regularly review/ update as needed existing Company ERM Framework elements as needed, including establishing and refining risk management and oversight processes, templates, and executive management reporting dashboard(s).
  • Develop and conduct annual enterprise-wide risk assessment as well as periodic functional/ other assessments as appropriate.
  • Design and implement update enterprise risk register with prioritization (heat map) rubric(s) and related risk KRI tracking processes, including support of functional teams in development/ management of additional function and/or site-specific registers and related oversight processes.
  • Establish processes for regularized engagement with key risk owners and business sponsors and enable relevant management updates with respect to priority enterprise risks, mitigation actions, progress relative to established and new KRIs/ Key Risk Indicators.
  • As Risk Director, assure regular reporting of key risk developments and emerging risks as well as ongoing alignment of key risks to Company Goals and progress, for management, GLT, GCRC, EC and Board of Directors in close coordination with CCRO.
  • Develop and implement Company management and employee risk training and assure regular assessment of risk culture in concert with CCRO and Compliance team.
  • Set Genmab Enterprise Risk COE/ Center of Excellence, systems, tools, and processes.
  • Establish and maintain strong engagement with Compliance, Legal, DPO, Finance, Internal Audit, IT & Digital, R&D/ Regulatory, Commercial and other functional leaders globally and assure effective ongoing alignment enterprise and functional risk managements needs and processes to assure compliance with internal standards and external regulatory/ other requirements.
  • Enable requisite Business Continuity and Crisis Management Plans and regular updates and risk workshops as needed.
  • Develop and implement mechanisms to enable regular analysis of key business impacts/ exposures based on existing and new or emerging threats, security/ other risks, vulnerabilities, and through leadership of Company’s Risk COE materially contribute to the development and maintenance of effective risk strategies and mitigation actions to address same.
  • Develop and implement plans to regularly assess priority enterprise risk threats and effectiveness of controls, crisis identification/ response/ recovery plans and capabilities, both internal to the organization and at critical third party vendors/ supplier organizations, and provide guidance on effectively managing the risk of ineffective capabilities, and influence decision making by educating business stakeholders on the risk.
  • Actively promote an enterprise-wide risk intelligent culture and develop/ facilitate effective trainings of management and all personnel on regular cadence.

Requirements
Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business, risk and/or related technical field or equivalent work experience. Relevant Master’s level degree (e.g. MBA, CPA, JD, CFE, other) strongly preferred.
Experience
  • A minimum of 15 years of work experience in a dedicated global risk management role, preferably including biopharma or life sciences with both strategic and tactical responsibilities.
  • Significant experience in the design, development, and implementation of enterprise- wide global risk programs and strategies in heavily regulated industry, including risk assessments, roadmapping, workshops, and automated risk systems and tools. Demonstrated risk management experience working in multinational organizations inclusive of those with US and European facilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in setting up a risk management roadmap and driving the implementation of corresponding actions and processes.
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with CCRO, executive management and Boards of Directors and effectively influencing key stakeholders across the organization as essential to maintenance of effective ERM Program.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Deep knowledge and expertise regarding business risk management in a highly regulated global (prefer biopharma/ life sciences) enterprise with specialized insight into organizational and process excellence and understanding of relevant external regulatory environment and applicable standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal (verbal/ written) and corporate environment engagement skills and keen understanding of corporate organizational processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable external risk management frameworks, regulations, and legislation (e.g. FDA, OIG/ DOJ, GDPR, FCPA, ISO/ COSO/ NIST, Gramm-Leach-Bliley, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), COSO).
  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills
  • Self-starter, takes initiative, has Ability to build consensus, making decisions based on many variables, and gain support for major initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and technical skills and business acumen, including relevant industry-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.
