The GGO Office of the President seeks a Senior Officer, Strategy, Planning & Management to support the strategic and operational aspects of an integrated program area. You will be responsible to lead strategic planning, annual planning, and budgeting, change management initiatives, measurement and evaluation, business analysis and the leadership of priority divisional initiatives, both programmatic and operational (particularly DEI).
This position reports to: Chief of Staff / Director, Strategy Planning & Management, Office of the President
What You’ll Do
- Lead processes to develop and coordinate divisional annual planning and strategy review, investment, financial and operational processes which may include the full investment development process, annual planning, strategic cycle, and divisional progress tracking. Provides critical support to division and program leadership in translating strategy goals into coherent portfolio level theory of action.
- Support the development and play a key implementing role of divisional goals, translating goals to execution plans and working as a catalyst for division change. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives is a key area of focus.
- Consult/strategize with division leadership to maximize the impact of investment and financial processes and ensure optimal learning, decision making, and collaboration across the division.
- Promote efficiency and productivity on the team by providing leadership and support in process development and improvement, implementation and improvement of tools, analysis, reporting and change management as needed in consultation with the Chief of Staff/Director.
- Support division leadership in overseeing programmatic progress and execution and providing strategic counsel across the division’s work.
- Support division leadership in foundation initiatives and exploratory work, including strategic counsel and implementation design. Examples of current projects include digital learning and climate change.
- This role may manage people and may be responsible for hiring the talent needed to achieve our goals, ensuring successful employee onboarding, communicating performance expectations, creating goal alignment, integrating project and change management, giving, and seeking feedback, providing coaching, measuring progress, and holding people accountable, supporting employee development, and recognizing achievement and lessons learned.
Your Experience
- Strong portfolio and team leadership skills.
- Demonstrated complex project management skills and a successful track record of leading or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Program management of complex strategy development, execution planning and business process redesign projects.
- A preference for rigor, purpose driven measurement and cost-effective use of resources.
- Ability to act independently to determine methods and procedures on assignments.
- Ability to create structures and develop frameworks to increase clarity and transparency of decisions, trade-offs, and impact on financial and organizational resources.
- Ability to effectively alternate between thinking strategically and high-quality execution.
- Demonstrated ability to implement change management initiatives.
- Strong listening and facilitating skills, including on sensitive or critical topics.
- Bachelor’s or other advanced degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
