Job Summary

The Senior Analyst Business is responsible for providing a wide range of value-added complex operational or technical analytics and may perform financial analysis to support business line initiatives. Provides operational recommendations based on those analytics. Responsible for collecting and analyzing performance data and developing business performance reports and analysis that support key decision making. Responsible for creating and managing various database structures and analytics websites to collect, analyze and disseminate operational data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining, designing, building, and preparing daily, weekly, monthly, user customizable, and adhoc operations reports and analysis for key operational metrics. Acts independently when prudent to go beyond the request and anticipate the current or future needs of the request which would add value or increase functionality/ease of use
  • May be responsible for managing project actual costs with project managers, research variances between forecasts and actuals including review of journal entries, procurement, & accounting reports; establish and manage project accruals
  • Researches, analyzes, and explains current and past activity, expected trends, and potential effect of change; presents and supports findings and recommendations to various management levels within the organization
  • Evaluates data collected and accurately identifies and interprets trends and risks; based on findings, prepares and communicates results and recommendations to various levels of senior management Ensures accuracy of all reported data by continually reviewing and analyzing current sources, processes, and systems functions Prepares graphs, spreadsheets, reports, and PowerPoint presentations as required
  • May serve as a subject matter expert on pharmacy performance metrics analysis, design, development, and the execution of queries, business reports and dashboards; uses statistical methodologies to describe and model behaviors, transaction volumes, and performance measures
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining databases, spreadsheets and other tracking mechanisms; continually reviews and analyzes data maintenance processes to enhance data integrity/redundancy and maximize usage of available resources
  • Collaborates with internal departments to initiate/implement improvements and efficiencies related to analytics needs
  • Creates and maintains tools that will automate analytics, such as web-based reporting; establishes reporting standards and criteria and maintains data and reporting integrity

  • Defines and develops requirements for reporting to all levels within the management structure, and methodology for calculations for metrics and/or analysis
  • May serve as subject matter expert and mentor for more junior members of the analyst team
  • Other responsibilities as judgment or necessity dictate

  • Constantly (67-100% of time OR 6 or more hours) required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, talk and hear
  • Frequently (34-66% of time OR 4-6 hours ) required to reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally (0-33% of time OR 1-3 hours) required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Occasionally (0-33% of time OR 1-3 hours) required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Science, Economics, Finance or related area of study or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant work experience
  • 5 years’ work experience in an analytical or pharmacy role or healthcare industry

Additional Qualifications

  • Experience in analytics and problem solving, querying large databases and financial analysis
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems
  • Experience with analyzing and reporting data in order to identify issues, trends, or exceptions to drive improvement of results and find solutions
  • Experience collaborating with internal resources, and external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines
  • Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates
  • Experience establishing & maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Experience developing ways of accomplishing goals with little or no supervision, depending on oneself to complete objectives and determining when escalation of issues is necessary
  • Willing to travel up to 10% of time for business purposes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Retail Pharmacy and / or Central Pharmacy Operations experience
  • Experience in programming in Visual Basic, HTML, HTML5, CSS, ASPNet, AJAX, jQuery, Javascript, Visual Studio, IIS7, and Microsoft SQL Server to design and create robust web analytics tools to drive operational performance
  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives)
  • Experience in variable and fixed drug pricing terminology and unit of measure conversions
